It’s a bit disorienting going from 0 to 60 but that’s what’s going on this weekend and we start with three organized scuffles tonight. For the most part it’ll be, “Spot the Starter Before He Disappears!” but that’s better than the void that we (I) experienced during the summer. Let’s take a brief look at what’s on offer.
To The Games!
Colts/Ravens:
-This game’s salute to Styx’ “Come Sail Away” will be conducted by Anthony Richardson and his forward passes.
-Yes, Baltimore has another rb other than Henry and this is your fleeting glimpse at Keaton Mitchell. Is he a viable fantasy entity in his own right? No. Is he a needed handcuff should Henry go down? Also no.
Bengals/Eagles:
-We’ll see Burrow and Chase according to Zac but damnit, we won’t get a looky-look at tight ends Gesicki and Fant. [puts back of hand to forehead] “Oh the vagaries of these start/sit decisions!”
-How will octogenarian Paul Brown’s inability to sign Trey Hendrickson be massaged by the supplicant announcers? We’ll soon find out.
Raiders/Seahawks:
-Rumor has it that it’s not Ashton Jeanty’s time yet. Why would you trot him out here when the team is going to run him ragged all season long? What we will see is some aggressive gum-chewing by an older gentleman that is an animated sideline presence.
-Rook qb Jalen Miloe’s passing accuracy has been generously described as ‘spotty’, in that sometimes his misses the spot by a bit and other times by quite a bit. Where’s that damn wr with the 35-foot catch radius?
Enjoy your meats and cheeses.
