Hey all, as some of you know, we do the “Little Drummer Boy” challenge each year. It’s really simple, if you hear the “Little Drummer Boy” song between Black Friday (Nov 28 at 12:01 AM in whatever time zone your in) and Christmas Eve ( Dec 24 at 12:01 AM) your OUT. Also, for those playing “The Game”, you’re out too. haha. One does not need to hear the full song to be out, as long as one recognizes it as the song, your done. This includes samples and remixes and whatever else you want to call it, if it’s the LDB, you’re out. Nor does it matter where you hear the song, at home, in a store (ha like any of us go out), driving or whatever, it all counts. Now, if someone tries to trick you or RickRoll you into hearing it, you are safe and they are out. The full challenge rules can be found here.
I hope to make it this year, but my family thinks the challenge is dumb, and won’t help me out to nawt hear the song, so it’s not looking good for me again. Hopefully you can do better than me. I think that I mentioned this in one of the threads, but oldest asked if I still did this challenge, and was upset that she heard it last weekend and was out. She was kinda happy when I explained that it doesn’t start until Black Friday, so was still in. I also made the joke about her being out of “the game”, which she also knew about.
There was a suggestion to also do Whamageddon, which is just like the LBD but with Wham’s “Last Christmas” song instead. Official rules here. This one is different in it’s ONLY the original song that counts, where LBD is anything like it. Honestly, I’m not sure that this challenge is possible if you do anything out of the house or any social media in the next month. But I’m going to try, as why not. I also expect to be out of the whamageddon by the weekend. That song is so overplayed, and covered, that it’s everywhere now.
I’ll post this on the sidebar and we can update the post as we fail in the challenge.

I’m out. Made it through my sister’s Christmas songs the weekend after Thanksgiving, flew all the way to New Zealand and BAM there it was in a souvenir shop on the south island, I want to say December 7th. It was my own personal Pearl Harbor (hi it wasn’t that sneaky).
I made it last year after the commentariat gave me a favorable ruling about hearing it a couple days BEFORE Thanksgiving at the local fancy bodega. No doubt this year I’ll be out by tomorrow.

I have a pretty good record, though not perfect as I heard a reggaeish version of LDB in the Caribbean. It sounds a lot better with steel drums
I’ve made it through this in 2015 or ’16, 2021 and 2023. I remember in ’22, I was knocked out in less than a week. Last year, I got around halfway.
Time to keep the odd-numbered year streak alive.

having kids and going to their Holiday concerts at school has knocked me out of the running many many many years in a row. Oldest performed a version of LDB as part of her jazz band, so zero chance of making it those years.
I continue to believe that Last Christmas is worse than LDB, but I’m in anyways.
