NFL News:

• Jarvis Landry wins the prize (?) as the first player to be franchise-tagged in 2018.
  • I thought for sure it would have been Kirk Cousins, because Dan Snyder is an idiot surrounded by morons.
  • There’s a logic that this might make him an attractive trade prospect, because willing teams can offer less annual money but more years in a new contract.
    • Or he can stay with the Dolphins & try the open market next year.

• Possible troubling news: “Orthopedic surgeon: Carson Wentz might be brace-dependent for rest of his career”
  • Doctors are hesitant to say he’ll be ready by opening weekend 2018, but the fact they’re using RGIII as a reference point is the troubling part.
    • “This is an ACL, plus at least two ligaments,” the doctor said. “This is an RG3 equivalent, folks. This is worrisome … That’s a long rehab. And if it were my patient, it would take nine, 10, 11 months.”
  • So it looks like it’s still Folesadelphia for the time being.

• The Panthers got lazy & simply took the interim tape of Marty Hurney’s door and now he’s the full-time GM.
  • Because any new owner might fire the whole staff, so no one wanted to take the job.

• Kinda cool thing: The Vikings sent Super Bowl Eagles confetti to people that made donations to the Vikings Foundation after the game.
  • It built on the playoff-donation wave that started back when Buffalo fans donated to Andy Dalton’s charity after the Bengals helped the Bills make the playoffs.
  • It also helped it was only 24 people.

You may have heard about it today, especially if you have an uncle that TYPES IN ALL CAPS, but starting last night, Twitter went after so-called bot accounts.

• According to Gizmodo – to take it for what it’s worth – “Twitter suspended thousands of accounts overnight”, appearing to mainly target the suspected Russian accounts Robert Muller will eventually ask them about.
  • Upset MAGA types who lost “thousands of followers” have started the hashtag #TwitterLockout
    • Have a gander if you want to look deep into the disturbed mind of the parent who used to tell you nothing good happens on the internet, BUT NOW IT’S HAPPENED TO THEM!

The only reason I bring this up is because Low Commander sent me a semi-related story for tonight’s open thread, about the Chargers social media & how about 45% of their Twitter followers were fake.

• It seems that the Chargers were exposed as having over 360,000 fake followers, after boasting that they had gained 300,000 followers during the course of the season.
• Enterprising types have suggested the Spanos clan may have purchased followers, in order to bump their Q-rating and make the move to LA look less like a PR disaster than half-empty stadiums showed it to be.
