DFO Meetup – Karl Strauss, Costa Mesa

Earlier this year, my good friend was hired by Karl Strauss as one of their Brewers. Many years ago he home-brewed, where he produced some pretty amazing creations (the Mojito Pale Ale, an Espresso Stout on par with a Yeti and too many Belgians to count all come to mind) and eventually took a gig working at a local microbrewery in North County San Diego as their Assistant Brewer. This latest jump is big, and as of earlier this month, has been given the right to brew a beer of his own creation on the Karl Strauss system. It will be ready in a few weeks time, and I certainly will be posting more about it in the near  future.

To commemorate this occasion/excuse to drink, the Southern California chapter of the Commentist Party will be meeting at the Costa Mesa location of Karl Strauss Brewing Company, for beers, debauchery and above all else, football. I figured this would be a good middle ground for those of us driving between LA and San Diego. You are all encouraged to come and join us, as we enable each others poor decisions. Some of our teams will even be playing each other! Certainly, that could never lead to any trouble. Luckily for me, the Chargers will be on a BYE, so none of you will have to see a grown Commander cry.

At least, 1pm is when I plan on arriving, in time for the afternoon kickoffs. You are certainly encouraged to show up sooner and start the meetup on your own.

As of my last count earlier today, there are six members currently planning on attending, as well as Lady Commander. As we get closer, and have a better idea of how many will be attending, I will make a reservation. I am looking forward to meeting most of you without your avatars, and once again seeing Rikki and Balls. Now, let us drink and enjoy the weekend.
