So, last week was Mexican Independence Day. In previous years, this would mean tons of people going to bars in Los Angeles and a lot of people taking off on vacation to visit family in México and partake in festivities there.
Obviously, that didn’t happen this year.
Well, let me rephrase that. It didn’t happen to the extent that it does in most years. Even in México, the celebrations were muted as the large gathering for El Grito in El DF was cancelled. All celebrations were virtual, which means people just got drunk at home.
In honor of Mexican Independence Day, my original plan was to have hot models wearing something México-related. However, I went down a Mexican meme rabbithole and found a bunch of stuff too good not to share.
Treat this as your annual Spanish lesson and a chance to Better Know A Mexican.
I’ll also be continuing to showcase awesome songs like before. In keeping with the theme, I’ll be showcasing a Mexican band that has been called the Mexican Police.
As for last night’s game, that last minute drive was YUUGE for gamblers everywhere. In the DFO spread picking pool, the Browns were favoured by 5.5 points. Burrow’s last minute TD and conversion (apparently meaningless since the onside kick failed) made the final margin 5 points and gave a win to Cincinnati plus the points bettors.
Of course, that group included me, so I was happy. I imagine a similar thing occurred in Vegas, although I don’t know what the final line was on the game.
Ok, enough gambling talk, let’s get right to it. Enjoy:

And now, the next episode of our new feature!
As I mentioned before, I’ve decided that I must take up the mantle that tWBS ran with and help to make this world a better place. I will do this in the one way he couldn’t: By introducing you to good music!
My aim each week has been to showcase a tune or band from the 80s (the best decade EVAR!) that not many people know about or have heard of. In this way, hopefully these artists will find new audiences and the old audiences can reminisce about what they were doing in the 80s.
Tonight, we are deviating a bit from the 80s part as this band was active and popular in the 90s and beyond. You could say, however, that the band was heavily influenced by 80s music. Their sound has been described as a mix of tropical, reggae, and pop. Very much like The Police.
The band, of course, is Maná.
The band was formed in Guadalajara and is considered the most successful Spanish rock band of all time. Their 1992 album, ¿Dónde jugarán los niños? became the best-selling Spanish rock album of all time. That album is like the Bob Marley “Legend” album in that it contained hit after hit.
Perhaps their most famous song is “Oye mi amor”:
Another big hit from that album was “Cómo te Deseo”:
Watching that video, I’m sure you understand why I like this band. Another great song from that album was “De Pies A Cabeza”:
Probably the most rock-like song on the album was “Me Vale”:
Did I mention that latinas absolutely adored Maná and this song got many a young man laid in the 90s?:
While the follow-up album to ¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños?, Cuando los Ángeles Lloran, was not as big a hit, the album after that brought about more hits and more memorable songs. One of my favourites is “Clavado en un Bar”:
Another romantic song that the girls loved was “En El Muelle De San Blás”:
I bet you that you have heard this song on the TV at the start of a certain show:
At this point, I could post a bunch more songs, but I invite everyone to check them out. There are a lot of good songs that they created. I’ll end this with probably the best song ever written about being a Sancho: “Labios Compartidos”:

That’s all for this week, folks! Be good to each other and try to stay the fuck away from stupid people. That’s not COVID-19 advice, that’s just general good sense. See you next week!
Usually when someone with a lifetime appointment dies, I wonder who the New York Rangers will hire as their next GM

Hey everyone!
How the fuck am I supposed to move this shit without help?
I have no intention of finding out.
You, put that refrigerator over there. Next to the Van Gogh.
That will do nicely.
