In order to fix a mess of my own making I drove pretty much non-stop for twelve hours today. Back in the day I did deliveries all day long. THANKS FOR THE FLASHBACK, BRAIN LAPSE!

Sports-wise we’ve got a wee bit of Duke bullying Georgia Southern and Cincy doing same versus Norfolk St. (so far). UCLA, takers-down of UNLV, Kentucky and Gonzaga are playing Louisiana Lafeyette.  In the NBA Cle/Bos seems to be the only interesting tilt. On a slow night overall the NHL is doing the heavy lifting-NYR, Mtl, Nash, Min, StL, Chi, and Dal. are all donning the blades. Drink up fellas/ladies!

As much as I wish he had kept going, he stopped C&H at the top of his game, and so we have this wonderful, unadulterated legacy of greatness.

If the comments stayed on the topic of movies, I’d have been OK with it, but every third or fourth comment ended up becoming intensely political (someone consistently refers to democrats as “demon-crates,” and seems to think any movie with competent government is a leftist plot to indoctrinate TEH CHILDREN). Some guy said The Leftovers is “unwatchable due to left-leaning follywood propaganda,” and so many people just seem to think movies and entertainment began in the early 90s and anything from before then somehow manages the spectacular feat of ripping off works written in the future.

Which reminds me: Phantoms aside, Dean Koontz can suck it. He’s a terrible writer and his “no cursing” policy sets my teeth on edge. Some situations just call for profanity and he seems determined to remain some sort of grim Victorian-era prude, resolute in the face of increasing vulgarity. Fuck him.

I was given some Koontz books back in my teens years with the added info of “he’s like a cleaner Stephen King!” as though somehow LESS cursing and pure, balls-out insanity was what I wanted from my fiction…. I read four of his books and swore to never read another word, a vow I’ve broken just to see if anything changed over the years. If anything, he is even *more* reluctant to curse now. He’s like horror fiction’s Greggggggg Easterbrook, determined to remain vigilant and unchanging in these trying times.

I have not read those for a while, but several of the discussion were by people taking a film and every single fucking detail in it FAR too seriously and speculating on the DEEP meanings of lighthearted or casual associations that were not even close to being intended. Many did have descent punctuation tho.

I was looking at the boards from Childhood’s End and the Expanse, at first, then followed individual posters. One guy is a master with simply posting “You are so right. Don’t watch this.” after truly stupid posts that I admired so much I wanted to applaud them.

He fixed me when I was a kid. I got spina bifida. He basically took out my hip, closed and fused three vertebrae, and a couple of other surgeries. Did a hell of a job as not only did I survive past twelve, I was able to learn how to walk, and even managed to serve six years of active duty in the military.

I remember him as a caring and loving person. A person of strength and warm. I went though horrific pain as a kid, but I always remember Dr Carson as someone I looked forward to seeing and his kind words. He was my first and only real hero from my childhood.

I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO HIM….Near as I can tell, some fucking alien did a body snatch and a piss poor job at replicating his behavior or some shit.

Honestly…the biggest threat from North Korea is not its military nor its nuclear weapons. Its the massive population of economic refugees that will suddenly flood the surrounding area in the event of a collapse of the North Korea government.

The peaceful reunification of Germany cost billions and retarded the European markets for a decade. At the time, West Germany had a 5:1 population number over East Germany. East Germany had the highest standard of living in the Soviet Block (even higher then the USSR).

With North and South Korea, the numbers are FAR worse. South Korea only has a 1.5:1 population number over the North. The North is an economic basket case. You have a massive population with zero modern skills.

The cost would be in Trillions. It could easily collapse the South’s economy. That in turn would downturn the Japanese, Chinese, and the rest of the Pacific Rim economies (which includes the US). It would be a nightmare without even a shot potentially firing. This is why the US, China, South Korea, and others are determined in not letting the North completely implode.

One of my many work computers has unrestricted access to Microsoft games. This is a fairly strict work environment so that is pretty rare. On this machine I play Hearts and Solitaire when work is slow and I have been for several years. The games keep track of the number of times played and the number of times won. I can knock out several rounds of solitaire in no time at all and I have had this computer for awhile.
