México vs Uruguay is about to kick off.
Some shit basketball game too. Whatevs.
To follow up on Yeah Right’s post, I encourage everyone to post their favorite BBQ joint either in their hometown or anywhere they’ve visited.
My entry was the Pecan Lodge in Dallas. The meat literally melted in my mouth. I think I had a four hour nap after this:
Give us your recommendations!
They actually called travelling!
And how many timeouts do these teams get? It’s too damn many is all I know.

Commentists: I’ll be spending almost a week in Stockholm this month. I’m eager for suggestions of things to see, do, eat, etc.

I hear they are all infected with a heinous syndrome, 2/10 would not bang.
Kidnap them.
They LOVE it.
I presume you showed me this on the grounds it meets all three of my stated interests.
Nice! I had been thinking of going there this summer, but it didn’t work out. My one suggestion is to take a trip on a train to the Arctic Circle and play midnight golf.
Rolaaaaaassn! Every fucking time.
Apparently, new seasons of both Peaky Blinders and Bloodline debuted this past week. That’s like forgetting it’s Christmas and waking up to find presents under the tree.
Best kebab place I’ve ever been to is Mangal Ocakbasi in Hackney, East London.

Best entertainment along with kebabs was Restaurant Uzbekistan in Moscow.

ALMOST worked for Jamaica. ALMOST.
Watching the Collingwood/Port Adelaide replay and I’m quite happy to say that Collingwood are fucking terrible.

They’re really not bad, it’s just they have gotten killed with injuries.
Shit, I forgot to get my tips in. Guess it’ll be better than last week…
Do I need to buy this for you?

Should have been the title of Tebow’s book.
Best roast pork I’ve had. Blood sausage’s pretty good too.

Oregon, especially Portland, loves their pork and their BBQ. However, I have yet to visit a place that’s better than any other BBQ I’ve had. Maybe I’ve just gone to the wrong places. Maybe I’m just stupid. Oh well.
All these bbq place pictures look like the kind of place I would drive by, look at, and think, “no I won’t stop there, I don’t want to get tetanus from the bullet they shoot me with.”
That’s the best part.
This fucking place right here.
Germantown Commissary In Germantown Tennessee. Just east of Memphis.

Outstanding barbecue and probably the best deviled eggs I’ve ever had.
This place had the best brisket I ever had http://www.delaneybbq.com/briskettown
Best BBQ ever, anywhere is at the B.B.Q. King in Haymarket, Sydney.
Between the char siu and the crispy duck…godDAMN I miss Sydney.

The one place I miss in Albuquerque so much I’ve seriously considering ordering tamales to be shipped from there. Although my favorite item is actually the stuffed sopaipillas and the chicharrones.

Tell me they had chile verde.
Please.
And then describe it!
In New Mexico? Of course they do. I think I’ve had it once, but I couldn’t tell you how good it is.
There’s also no place to eat inside. It’s just a counter and 75% of the interior is the kitchen. It’s industrial scale and runs as such. Before Christmas it’s a fucking madhouse.
I can’t remember what anything tastes like now.
I made it a point to stop in Hatch New Mexico on the road trip I took to Dallas with my buddy that was living there. We ate here and had green chili soup, green chili fries, and a green chili burger. Fucking delicious.
This was the same trip in which I first ate at Pecan Lodge and in which we had Pizzeria Bianco pizza in Phoenix. We ate well that trip.
The best green chile cheeseburgers in New Mexico are generally considered to be from two restaurants across the street from each other in San Antonio (Birthplace of Conrad Hilton), although it’s basically a one road/one horse town anyway: the Owl Bar & Cafe and Buckhorn Restaurant. It’s interesting because both of them have adopted opposing cultures over the years, even politically.
But, shit, I can buy Hatch green chile locally now and make my own green chile cheeseburger if I’m so inclined. I haven’t been since I moved to Oregon, though. I never made enchiladas (my culinary specialty) or anything New Mexican. It’s the past.
Elbow to the head from behind: not a foul, got it.
Soccer or basketball?
Yes.
This Downtown Raleigh place is a bit hipster-fied, but the brisket is excellent, and you can get really good fried okra. Excellent beer selection on draft, too.

Another former hometown and another quality barbecue place.

This place is worth a visit.
I have to say, watching this MeHEEco team has been the highlight of my weekend. About time somebody showed a little pinache.
After watching about 12 minutes of basketball so far this season, it seems that my mid 90s routine about no one playing defense and never calling traveling is still gold.
Related to something first mentioned in the Sunday Gravy comments.
Oops.

yes! Musky Lozenge is awesome!
That’s Bobby, one of the owners and the pulled pork sandwich at JR’s Barbecue in Culver City.
It was in the running for Travel Chanel’s best sandwich in America.
Bobby and I are close enough that we shake hands every time I visit.

Aerial coverage of an indoor event, hooary!
I think LeBron is the greatest, but my dad says he doesn’t work hard enough on defense.
And he says that lots of times, he doesn’t even run down court. And that he doesn’t really try… except during the playoffs.
Which is why he has zero points. ?
THE HELL HE DON’T

That’s good Googlin’!
One day it’ll be worth living in Portland so that I can visit the Multnomah Whiskey Library and not just browse all the pretty labels.
Oops.
Jesus.
It’s like The Long Room but with whisky.
Speaking of Uruguay and grilling, the choripán at Charrúa in the East Village is the best grilled sausage sandwich in the world:

also. Phills BBQ in San Diego was and still is great.
Considering how broken the real nba seems to be with the Warriors, I shudder at the state of nba videogames.
Apparently Stephen Curry broke the video games with his range.
I’m in the shade with a summer breeze out on this patio. Life would be perfect if I didn’t need to plug in my laptop somewhere inside to do Barbri MBE questions for hours.
So we aren’t all watching Orlando City II v Louisville FC?
One of the extremely few good things about Roanoke, VA:

Still the best damned brisket I’ve ever had. Their fried mac and cheese bites are also outstanding.
They also have the “Bourbon Club,” or, as I call it, The Wall of Cirrhosis. 75 different brands of bourbon, ranging from Old Crow to a 25-year-old Pappy Van Winkle. Try all 75, and get your name on the wall, and they’ll pay for your liver transplant!
And, yes, of course my name is among those who have climbed to summit of bourble there.
How many nights to hit 75?
A little over a year, I think. Some of those shots were fucking expensive.
Goddamnit. One of my FB friends who is actually a sender person just posted one of those “my kid said Trump is the bad man” shit posts. Now I have to kill everyone.
*decent person
Does that mean the kid’s gonna wish him into the corn field?
Fun fact: Andrew Bogut and Alex Smith were overall number one picks in their respective sports, in the same year (2005), from the same school, Utah.
That’s a really good fun fact! So weird! PK would love it.
Retroactively I would like to qualify this fact as WEIRD, and ppl forget that. Or maybe it should be ppl never knew that?
Where’s Sir Chomps-a-Lot for You-are-gay?

He’s hurt, but he’ll probably play in the next game.
Used to be a place here in Southwest Missouri called Hawg Wild BBQ. Eventually closed after owner got in trouble for meth, because Southwest Missouri. That was good shit though.
The BBQ. I can’t speak to how good the meth was.
WOW!
NFL NEWS!
Aqib Talib Cornerback for the Broncos got shot in the leg at a Dallas nightclub!
Did they ice him up, son?
Read the scroll.
So what you’re saying is it’s hot out?

Is it seriously that hot in Oregon?
The high yesterday was 99. It’s supposed to be 99 today, but yeah. I think where I am is even hotter.
Now that is a México home game.
Yup. It’s Phoenix…
