Your “I Swore I Would Be True” Monday Evening Open Thread

NFL News:

  • Big Daddy Drew is alive.
    • So let’s relive it again.

https://twitter.com/coribald/status/952718190861107201

  • Plus, he’s got opinions on the next Giants head coach.

https://twitter.com/drewmagary/status/953003303528484865

  • Mike Mularkey is OUT as Titans coach.
    • The rumour is Josh McDaniels, and a probable fine for not observing the Rooney Rule.
      • Working in the Titans favour is that they have a healthy QB, something the other McD contender – the Colts – cannot say.
      • Working against them – rumours he’s already agreed to a deal with the Colts.
    • That leaves Matt Patricia, unless Arizona ponies up some sweet bucks.
  • God bless Jalen Ramsay.
    • He’s said the Jags are going to win the Super Bowl, and doesn’t care if it’s bulletin board material.
      • I want to hear that level of confidence. It beats the Steelers “respecting” the Patriots when they are secretly scared of them.
  • Stealing from Crimebeat!
    • Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane was arrested for a DUI on Sunday morning at 5:30AM, despite blowing an admitted 0.03 on the breathalyser.
      • “He was heading eastbound on Interstate 90 on or near Mercer Island when he was pulled over.” Meaning, he was leaving downtown towards Bellevue over the floating bridge, a classic police chokepoint.
        • The DUI score means they are factoring in alcohol on his driving style in justifying the arrest.
      • Considering the Seahawks tried to get rid of him in the Duane Brown trade, this latest incident probably means his end in the Pacific Northwest.
  • To reconnect with yesterday’s sacrifices to GAMBLOR, Vegas has some funny stories to tell:
    • The spread on the Vikings game had moved to -5.5 by kickoff, so anyone who bet the spread Sunday lost out when Keenum took the knee on the extra point.
    • The over/under was 47, which was a push until the TD.
    • MGM reported that the Saints were bet twice as heavily as the Vikings, with the largest bet received at $150,000 on the Saints to win at 2:1 odds. That’s $300,000 left on a tear-soaked table.

Finally, that Millie lady looked like she had a blast at the Vikings game.

She went with her granddaughter, the one who hooked the whole thing up via social media.

Fox made sure she got on TV,

someone sent her a beer,

and some parasite tried to steal her limelight.

But at least he ticked off box #3 on her wish list, gifting her tickets to the Super Bowl.

Okay, now I hope the Vikings crush the Eagles, and she gets to be their “Rally Monkey” for two weeks.

Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries died suddenly in London today, aged 46.

Hold on. Why the shit are NFL clubs tweeting MLK quotes when they are currently colluding to keep Kaep out of the league?

Brick Meathook

Because no one gives a shit about Kaepernick.

Fronkenshteen

Ok. Enough time has passed. WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU ALL FANTASY SEASON, DIGGS?!?!

Unsurprised

He was saving up all his XP to blow on that one play.

Brick Meathook

Let’s not forget the man who freed the slaves,
MISTER ABRAHAM LINCOLN!

Damn Canadian drivers.

Unsurprised

This would be really good right now.

Thing currently really gnawing at me–the party of “personal responsibility” keeps lying when caught in lies and never gets held to account. Fuck the GOP.

Unsurprised

They’re weasel words. It means and has always meant that women deserve to be punished for getting pregnant or for poor people being poor. It’s never actually meant holding people and institutions to account for their actions.

Unsurprised

Oh my God. This playing as they enter the courtroom with JC as lead attorney for the beginning of the trial is totally my jam.

The only practical use of facebook memories is when it reminds me to repost things I laugh at

Unsurprised

Americans truly are fucking idiots. We absolutely deserve Trump.

It sucks that so many innocent people are going to be ruined or just die, but that’s been going on forever. So after a while it just seems like I have my own shit to worry about.

I’m sorry. Where was I?

yeah right

I’ve spent the entire day “chasing the dragon” to try and relive the high from yesterday’s game.

May be a futile pursuit.

On to Philadelphia.

BrettFavresColonoscopy

Probably pretty easy to find heroin in Philly tbh

Unsurprised

I finally got back to catching up on The People vs. OJ Simpson. I wish I had been able to meet Johnnie Cochran when he was alive. I admire the hell out of him.

BrettFavresColonoscopy

News flash: incompetent people are the worst

Unsurprised

Sadly, they make up at least fifty percent of any and all populations.

yeah right

That could be a vast understatement.

Mr. Ayo

Never bet on the outcome of games played by kids.

Back home! My weekend trip to Mumbai all went rather well, plus I came home to find my new (rather flimsy feeling) CA driver’s license in the mail, and I got a solid offer on my condo in Chicago! Imma have a toaster oven pizza to celebrate! I should have a glass of fizzy wine, but I might be boozed out after various airport lounges…

Unsurprised

What’d you do?

Here’s that run.

It’s amazing how many coaching retreads NFL clubs are willing to roll with than to take a chance on a new guy. Surely there is a young coach in college that could do well in the NFL?

One that also happens to be black?

Gratliff

I can not believe people don’t remember what Josh McDaniels did to the fucking Broncos.

Mr. Ayo

Even the Mets will pass on Luck after the MRI and see his tossed salad of a shoulder.

Senor Weaselo

The Bobby Bonilla money cuts too much into the payroll, Luck’s too expensive.

Senor Weaselo

No, 2035.

Brick Meathook

Kaepernick’s available.

Unsurprised

Good luck with that.
