Welcome Back To James Bond Fun With Polls Week!
Today, we are going in a different direction. While the last two days have featured videos, today’s poll features pics. Pics of hot girls.
Now, I should say that these are not just any girls. These are BOND GIRLS and that phrase has a special meaning all to itself. A Bond Girl is not just a girl that has been in a James Bond movie. Numerous publications before the internet and websites after the internet was invented made the mistake (purposefully or not) of calling any girl that was in one of the movies a Bond Girl.
I call Bullshit.
A Bond Girl, in my opinion, has to be the main protagonist/ antagonist in the film. She is usually strong, intelligent, and capable of matching James Bond in many ways. Like Bond, she also has weaknesses which cause her to fall into peril.
Before we get started, I want to report yesterday’s results. You were able to vote for up to five films for Best Title Credits Sequence. The top vote-getter was: Goldfinger. The top six were:
- Goldfinger – 18 votes
- From Russia With Love – 11 votes
- Casino Royale – 9 votes
- Live And Let Die – 8 votes
- The Spy Who Loved Me – 5 votes
- Goldeneye – 5 votes
Sorry, Brick! Downfield Matriculator is 2/5ths of the way towards being correct in his prediction that Goldfinger would sweep the week.
Back to today’s task. You are to evaluate the Bond Girl in each film and pick your favourite. You will notice that some films have two Bond Girls. For those, I have carefully evaluated the merits of the characters to determine if they deserve equal billing. I will explain my rationale for inclusion for each candidate for those special situations.
As with yesterday, another way to evaluate them is the 12-year old boy method: Which one has the nicest boobies and butts?
I’m not here to tell you how to vote. You do you.
As before, you will get a chance to vote for five films. The top vote-getter wins.
In chronological order,

Yes, the Masterson sisters did have substantial parts in the film, but their screen time and, more importantly, their contribution to the overall film were both inferior to Pussy Galore’s

This movie featured two female leads, Aki and Kissy Suzuki. I’m giving the nod to Aki as her role is more substantial and integral to the film. Fun fact: the actresses were originally supposed to play each other’s roles, Akiko spoke English better, so she got the more substantial part instead. She also got the writers to rename the character “Aki” to match her name.

Yes, Grace Jones plays May Day and had a substantial part in the film, but the story really revolves around Tanya’s Stacey and how her pursuit of justice leads to Zorin’s downfall. Gotta give it to Stacey.

Yes, this is our first film with two candidates! Honestly, both characters are strong women and contribute equally to the development and resolution of the plot. They each stand on their own, so they should each be considered a true Bond Girl.

Once more, we have two Bond Girls in the same film. One is a protagonist and the other an antagonist. Both are integral to the story.

Teri Hatcher got equal or top billing in the marketing, but in reality that was a racist appeal to white people in the US and Europe. Michelle Yeoh is the real star of the film and holds her own with James Bond.

Yes, Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones was hilarious eye candy and gave us the awesome ending line about Christmas only coming once a year, but she is not a Bond Girl.

So sue me, I like Rosamund Pike, ok? Listen, I think she took her smaller part and actually out-acted Oscar-winner Halle Berry. She deserves consideration as another brilliant antagonist.

This may seem like a controversial pick, but I’m sorry THE WHOLE MOVIE IS ABOUT HER! It absolutely HAS to be her.

The poll is below and will be open until midnight Pacific time.
