So we went to sign the papers for the house yesterday so it can all close tomorrow. Because underwriters are a complete joke, my loan officer had me play some game with the cash where my “approved” account would deposit part of the payment and my wife’s account would wire in the rest of the down payment.

So I’m meeting with the title gal and she gives me the wire info and I explain I actually have TWO wire transfers to make so do I need TWO transfer info sheets? She says no, none of it matters so long as this code is attached to the total value of my deposits. Fine.

I leave and head to BofA to make TWO wire transfers. BofA guy is like, “hey, I can save you $30 if we transfer the funds from my account and my wife’s account to our joint account then make ONE wire transfer. He also does mortgages, of course, and agrees that, so long as we have this code, the one transfer is fine. So I sit there for 20 mins as he shifts money and mines I’m in Vegas for work and, you know, he could set me up with their branch business banker guy. Not today, bud. My baby is anxious. My wife is anxious. And I hate BofA and just want to hand over all this money. The wire transfer goes through.

Last night I see I missed a call and have a message. It’s the mortgage company in CA. They only got one wire from an “unapproved” account (for the total amount with the associated code) instead of TWO wires and so now there is a problem. I called her back but it was too late so I guess we need to get this ironed out tomorrow. My RE agent didn’t seem too concerned but I’ve pretty much done everything this whole process so she may just not be concerned that SHE will have to do anything other than tell me to sit at the bank for five hours and iron this shit out.

Anyone have any insight on this? Seriously, if it weren’t for my wife I’d have probably just walked from this purchase like five times just because I’m frustrated with dealing with so many “professionals” who are anything but, IMHO.
