- Following the CBA vote extension, and Russell Okung’s complaint to the NLRB, the league & union have agreed to extend the franchise tag deadline from 4:00PM Thursday to 11:59AM Monday.
- This does not confront anything, as the “legal tampering period” for free agency begins at noon on Monday.
- Absent a new CBA, teams can use both a franchise and a transition tag on players.
- However, if the new CBA is passed by the NFLPA, teams will only have either the franchise or the transition tag at their disposal.
- The new league year, and thus all 2020 free agent signings & previously-agreed trades, begins on March 18 at 4:00PM ET.
- The Cowboys & Steelers will play in the Hall of Fame Game.
- The game will be on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 8 p.m. ET in Canton, Ohio, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
- Not that it matters, but both teams are 3-3 in previous Hall of Fame Games.
- It’s fitting as former Steelers coach Bill Cowher and safety Troy Polamalu, along with former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson, will be enshrined into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 8, as members of the Centennial Class of 2020.

Biden-Trump feels like it’s going to be a landslide one way or the other, but flip a coin to figure out which. I know the usual move is to hold off on the VP pick until closer to the convention, but there’s a huge chunk of the country that’s going to want to know real quick that there’s someone competent waiting in the wings. Again, Warren feels like the logical choice for Biden. If that’s the case, she needs very much for them to win (even more so than, y’know, the entire planet). I still feel like she had this locked up if she didn’t attempt the centrist pivot, and everything after just felt like flailing. If she’s the VP pick and wins, progressives will be comforted to know there’s someone massively more qualified than Joe waiting for him to kill over. It’ll also give the “historic” component and maybe excite people. If she’s the pick and loses, people will wonder if things had been different if she’d endorsed Sanders. If she doesn’t even get the VP pick, it’s going to look like she just acted out of spite and didn’t even attempt to stop her biggest target outside Bloomberg from taking it. Life’s funny like that sometimes. It’s very discouraging that an election that started with 3 progressives that were running fairly close to what Sanders ran in 2016 leading the pack turned into one of the weakest repeat candidates of my entire life taking it by running on a platform of ????.
