NFL Notes:
- Another day, another DUI – Cleveland Browns chief of staff Callie Brownson has been suspended by the team after being charged with drunken driving.
- Brownson was charged with drunken driving on May 27 in Brunswick, Ohio.
- She reportedly was driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone when she was stopped at 12:27 a.m.
- Police said her blood alcohol content was .215.

- She pleaded no contest to the charge of operating a vehicle under the influence (a first-degree misdemeanor) in Brunswick’s Mayor’s Court, and had two other charges dismissed:
- one for speeding, and
- one for a blood-alcohol level above .17, which is just over twice the legal limit.
- She will not be fired.

- Well, thanks to guys like Sam Darnold & Montez Sweat, teams now have to add COVID vaccination updates to all their press releases. To wit:
- The Football Team is 50% vaccinated.
- Bruce Arians is the only expert the players need.
- The Raiders have all their coaches vaccinated, and 72% of the players.
- All of the Lions coaches are vaccinated, so they can work throughout the facility.
- Matt Nagy is encouraging vaccinations so people can communicate better.
- The big issue that has arisen out of this is: will unvaccinated players who end up on the COVID list get paid?
- Teams are pushing for no, because they have done their due diligence in bringing in experts to allay fears, and players have to make the positive choice to decline vaccination.
- It also saves teams money against the cap if they can refuse pay to a COVID-affected player who didn’t get vaccinated.
- The union, naturally, has a differing opinion.
- Still, it’s hard to justify their point when Montez Sweat brings up the scientific fact that, “I haven’t caught COVID yet so I don’t see me treating COVID until I actually get COVID.”
