Good day to you. This is supposedly a preview about the 2021 Philadelphia Eagles but due to yet another wide receiver being drafted I want to look back at the miserable fails this team has had at drafting that position. Strap in and embrace the suck as Eagle fans might as well get used to it because this year will be awful.

We will start when the Iggles drafted Donovan McNabb in 1999.

In that same draft they drafted Na Brown in the fourth round (34 rec, 363 yds, 2 tds), and Troy Smith who I seem to remember being a qb at some point. Well anyhow he caught one pass in his career for fourteen yards. They really drafted to surround McNabb with talent right off the hop. Let’s move on.

In the 2000 draft the Eagles drafted the skinniest man available in the draft by selecting Todd Pinkston (3 carries for –21 yds, 184 rec, 2816 yds, 14 tds). This is a shining light in the night when comparing their fourth round pick Gari Scott who had 2-26.

Ok, lets try again. In 2001 with their 25th overall pick they drafted FredX, Freddie Mitchell out of UCLA. I remember being pumped for this pick and thought that finally there would be a threat out wide. His career numbers are that he threw for a td, rushed twice for -4 yards, ended with 90-1263-5. When writing this I expected those numbers to be a lot higher but I guess he flamed out pretty quick.

In 2002 they drafted Freddie Milons out of Alabama and he has no stats, soooooo miss.

In 2003 they went after another UCLA receiver because it worked so well with FredX. They drafted Billy McMullen in the third round and he ended up with 52-725-3. There seems to be a pattern developing here.

In 2004, they gave up and did not draft a wide receiver.

In 2005 they drafted Reggie Brown who I barely remember but he had 177-2574-17. I legit looked to see if he got these numbers somewhere else, but he did not. His tenure in Philly lasted 5 years and were all underwhelming except 2007 where he was targeted 111 times.

Sorry about that. I sat through it so you should too.

In 2006 they drafted Jason Avant in the fourth round. I remember him having talent but never could piece it together to be a trusted weapon. 346-4118-13. Not hall of fame numbers but a tidy career.

In 2007 they did not draft a wide receiver, probably because the cupboards were full with UCLA suck.

In 2008 they drafted Desean Jackson. Alright, this was a good pick and he was electric when not banged up. 612-10656-56. I loved watching him play however he took a beating and later in his career he couldn’t keep healthy.

In 2009 with the 19th pick overall they drafted Jeremy Maclin. I will admit that I have a Maclin jersey from China, it is part of my suck collection. He showed so much promise and I was kind of pissed when he left the team but he turned out to be brittle and not very good for very long. (514-6835-49). That same year they drafted undersized Brandon Gibson in the hopes of getting another Desean but alas this was not possible. (233-2711-13). This seems very high as well, did I forget some of these guys?

Hooooo boy in 2010 they drafted racism enthusiast Riley Cooper out of Florida. At least he wasn’t a murderer right???? (169-2418-18). They also drafted a gentleman by the name of Charles Scott who did not play in the NFL.

They did not draft a WR in 2011.

In 2012 they drafted Marvin McNutt out of Iowa who played a total of 5 games with a stat line of 0-0-0. (The name is real)

Dear Jesus this is more painful than I thought that it would be. It has to get better than just DJax.

In 2013 they did not draft a WR. They did draft Zach Ertz so there is that.

In 2014 they drafted a pair of receivers in Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff. I seem to remember Dakota Jesus and Matthews being best friends so that is why he was around longer than he should have been. (274-3288-22). Josh Huff was another undersized WR who not surprisingly did not work out. (51-523-4)

In 2015 the Eagles drafted Nelson Aglohor who was unable to catch in a Philadelphia jersey. I mean a dude who rescued people from a burning building even threw shade at Aglohor. Does he still play for Oakland? (272-3411-26) (He plays for Grumblelord)

In 2016 they did not draft a WR.

In 2017 to help out newly acquired Dakota Jesus they drafted Mack Hollins (42-527-2) and Shelton Gibson (2-59-0). This is absolutely pathetic. Seriously this is entering Browns QB territory with the WR’s that the Eagles have trotted out there.

In 2018 they had 5 draft picks and did not draft a wide receiver.

In 2019 they drafted JJ Arcega-Whiteside from Stanford. Apparently they do not teach how to catch a football at this prestigious school. (14-254-1) I have friends in Zaragoza, Spain where JJ is from and they all have his jersey and are Eagles fans. Poor bastards.

Last year they drafted 3 wide receivers! One for sure will eventually hit right? Jalen Reagor was drafted in the 1st round and I really hoped that he would be the answer. He got hurt. (31-396-1) They also picked up John Hightower who I don’t think that I have ever heard of (10-176-0). Also they picked up Quez Watkins (7-106-1). I am a Redzone slave and have not heard of either of these guys.

That is pathetic.

They drafted Jalen Hurts buddy Devonta Smith in the first round this year and like a lemming I am excited. He did get hurt in training camp so I should probably just reread everything I wrote.

In closing the Eagles will be the worst in the NFCEast, and possibly the NFC. They have a new coach I have never heard of, an unproven young qb, disinterested tight ends, and broken young wrs. I see a 3-14 season coming up.

I have stated on the site in the comments that the Eagles will be the worst team in the NFC and I stand by that. In watching Joe Flacco play in the preseason it is plainly obvious that it is going to go terribly. I predict the Eagles to go 2-15 with wins over the non-gendered Cowpersons (as is custom) and some other win that they will pull out of their asses.
