Your Cobb-led together Packers preview

First off, the “Cobb-led” joke is brought to you by Balls. I’m not nearly smrt enough to think of that joke. Your 2021 Packers will be team of many questions and hopefully a few answers. Mainly it will be how long does Rodgers want to play and want to play for GB. I’m guessing that next year will be the start of the Love experiment. I’m not sure the exact year I started cheering for the Packers, but recall liking Sterling Sharp and Farve. And the games were always on the TV then as my parents were tooooo cheap to have cable. So have been fortUnate enough to have someone competent under centre for the most part for my fandom. Not expecting much from Love.

Going to get this out of the way. Got a bunch of knock off jersey’s ages ago. This came in the first group. Asked for a replacement and got the same thing.

And yes, I wear this when drafting for fantasy football.

Things I hate about the Packers:
– The stupid cheese head hats.
-The “owner” shares.
– being “title town”
– comparisons of anyone to Farve
– Keeping McCarthy for so long
I’m sure there’s others, so add your own to the list.

Last season the Packers finished 13-3 and lost to the Bucs 31-26 in the Conference Championship game. I have zero recollection of this game but looking at the game sheet, it feels like they should have gone for it on 4th down as the kickoff allowed for a return of 9 yards. Oh and Rodgers was the league MVP.

Looking to this year, Rodgers is back for now and so is Davante Adams for the last dance or whatever. Fully expect both to leave in the offseason.

For once the Packers seem to have actual, useful running backs. Not that they’ll be used for much more than pass protection, but nice to have a few guys that can run the ball when needed. Aaron Jones leads this group, with help from AJ Dillion and some other guy.

As the Packers and Rodgers throw the ball about 97,000 times a game, they brought back Randall Cobb to appease Rodgers. They have still have MVS and Larzard around. Devin Funchess was lost to IR. Didn’t even know he got picked up.

Robert Tonyan leads the TE group, with some help from Marcedes Lewis. Not sure how he’s still playing at 37, but here we are.

The offensive line has lost David Bakhtiari for at least a few games but it’s still a solid group even without Bryan Bulaga who left in free-agency.

For 2020 DVOA had them rated first.

With a defence that was rated 17th overall by DVOA, there’s some work to be done here. Looking through the names on the roster, none jump out at me. Not the bestest fan, but not sure not knowing a single defensive name is a good sign. Totally expected to see an old name in the list but nothing.

Apparently Rashan Gary and Za’Darius Smith are the two to watch.

Mason Crosby is still around kicking with something called JK Scott doing punts. Sounds like a stage name picked by AI. DVOA ranks the special teams unit at 25th over all.

With a middle of the road predicted schedule (14th) for difficulty it should be easier to repeat at the NFC winner. Lots of the stuff I’ve read thinks they can challenge for the number 1 seed in the NFC, but not expecting that. I’m expecting them to get blown out in the Divisional round, like most years with Rodgers. They also have 5 prime time games so will be in our faces too much. As for season prediction, I’m thinking 12 and 5 ( so weird with the extra game now).

[…] to see what I said about the Packers last year, but apparently I didn’t do that post, but 2 years ago I did and one thing that did stand out to me was […]

With the people who do horrible stuff in his name he is probably sick of humans right now.

+ things I hate about the Packers:

  • failure to hold leads, usually as a result of giving up a few big defensive, busted coverage, TD’s by the secondary in spectacular, burning wreckage fashion.
  • the lack of cheerleaders… screw that “lunch pail” “working man’s team” shit.

As is the way of my people, I keep expectations low.

BEARS FAN FATHER: Where did you learn this? Who taught you how to do this stuff?

PACKERS FAN SON: You, all right? I learned it by watching you!

Yeah we do tend to live and die that way guess. I still have trouble getting over 4th and 26. I mean… 4th… and a FRIGGIN QUARTER OF THE FRIGGEN FIELD!!! How can you not defend that? Stevie Wonder could nickle that!

/ stares off into the distance…

Will always be my A A Ron.

I believe you critiques the entire rest of his career that you’ll see Rodgers did not receive but any younger/darker QB would have is, “know the situation you are in” and “always protect the football”.

A 17-game season is an abomination against humanity, and I specifically blame Kevin McCarthy.

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

“I said seventeen year-olds!” – one of Kevin’s caucus members

blaxabbath

Why are all you Antifas in CA too chicken shit to start disappearing all of McCarthy’s staff and vendors?

BrettFavresColonoscopy

Rodgres should be his new DFO name. Though it sounds Canadien.

“Rodgres under centre, he drops back and is hammered by an onslaught of defenders”

“Merde!”

Zut alors!

I haven’t minded GB’s high number of prime time games because they’ve had excellent quarterbacking. Unlike their division mates, Vikings excluded because Mike Zimmer RAWKS.

“I’m not sure this Love thing is going to work out.” – the manager at Dress Barn with regards to their new employee Courtney

ArmedandHammered

She keeps washing her hands with bleach mumbling something about gunpowder residue and blood.

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

I was wracking my brain trying to think of where Courtney would look for work; I should have realized she’d be serving drinks somewhere.

One for you, two for me!

Let’s get you on some dating apps. But first, we need to make you a profile:

“Hermit type. Very involved with watching sports and supporting the worst teams in the world. Working on my fitness, but will always have that cheat day for Thai food. And booze. I have a lot of tools, but don’t really know how to use them. Looking for someone who has a different world to let me see and someone who understands I sometimes need my world for a few hours to pretend to fix something with all those tools I have when I am really just replacing a light bulb.”

You are welcome!
