Good day to you. The content monster needed to be fed and due to how much I enjoyed Tony in Texas’ kit review from England I decided to do one for SecsiMexi Futbol. Our very own BallsofSteel got me hooked on this damn league. It’s wild, very unpredictable, it’s especially a joy to watch in Spanish and it’s included in one of my futbol streaming packages. If you haven’t chosen a club yet I recommend checking this out. Note, some of these teams don’t exist or play in Liga MX right now. I am sure Balls can explain.

Atlas FC (Team Teddy)

Litre_Cola : Here we get our 1st pink kit, I guess the US has exported breast cancer awareness to Liga MX. Nobody saw them winning the winter torneo, no one. I do like the white kit, the lines are cool, will not be ordering.

Balls: Wait,  Atlas,  the REIGNING CHAMPIONS,  have a Lucha Libre alternate jersey???

I have to admit,  though,  that the home and away kits are crisp and clean. These are beauties befitting a champion.

Hippo: I just think the sponsor being the new varietal of #NuAIDS is off the hook branding.  GOOD JERB, apertura champs!

Atlético San Luis (St. Louis)

Litre_Cola : We got one of them Atlético teams up here too in our nation’s capital. I am all for it if they bring money to the domestic product here. I really don’t know what they are trying to do with the other two kits here. Blue one is ok, I guess.

Balls: The home jersey is supposed to resemble Atlético Madrid’s as the team is owned by Atlético Madrid. The third jersey looks like it’s meant to resemble the Mexican National Team.  I have absolutely no clue what the second jersey is supposed to be.

Hippo: I was wondering about Atleti and kit numero uno.  Away kit is an abomination, but quite like numero tres/el alternico.

CF Pachuca

Litre_Cola : Love the logo and the home and away are great. What the fuck is the 3rd kit?? Why didn’t they just have the breast cancer one as their third?

Balls: Did a colourblind child design the third jersey? That thing is a Hot Mess and not in a good way. The Away kit is nothing to write home about either. When the best thing on your jersey is your sponsor logo,  you’ve got problems.

Hippo: Both alternate kits are an abomination before God and man.  I kind of like the away one.

Chivas de Guadalajara

Litre_Cola : Puma did their thing around the world with their 3rd kit here. I am torn because some of them look good and some look really stupid. I don’t like Chivas so we can file all of these kits in the bin.

Balls:  I’m not a big fan of Chivas nor of these jerseys. The home kit is always red and white stripes with blue mixed in somewhere.  The away black is a …. curious choice.  Not sure they’ll sell many of these.  Which is ostensibly the purpose as the team is not good.

Hippo: Are these also Atleti, or did they just cheat of San Luis’ exam?  #3 is ok, I guess.

Club América 

Litre_Cola : The keepers kit is the best of the lot. Their designer is out in the desert really high on peyote and no one oversees his work. Home Depot, and AT &T, fuck these guys. Is there an AT &T Mexican equivalent to the broad everyone in the clubhouse had a hard on for?

Balls:  Ugh. I hate these idiots.  They have always had Ugly As Fuck home jerseys.  I think their last home jersey I liked was from the 70s. The Away is nice but the goalie’s kit looks like a photo negative of the home kit.

Hippo: This is easily the worst home kit yet.  I am glad I am not supposed to like them.  FUCK OFF MURRIKA.

Club León  (Kings of)

Litre_Cola :  I dig the Special 2 here it is in my top 10 for sure. Norwich of Mexico has some of the best kits year in year out. Still don’t like the pink kits.

Balls:  Ok,  it looks like León has joined Atlas in the Lucha Libre alternate jersey game and I AM HERE FOR IT!  I’m sorry but that’s fucking cool!  I am a bit worried,  though,  that the Pachuca-León game this season is going to be confusing to watch.

Hippo: With Litre on this one, I like 1, 2, and 3.  It takes a lot to pull off the pink/salmon look, though it is easily my favoUrite Everton varietal.

Club Necaxa

Litre_Cola :  Are they sponsored by PlayDough? If so Decilitre is all over it. I really like the away kit.

Balls: I like that the Away jersey pays tribute to Necaxa’s electrical nickname.  Long story short,  they used to be owned by the Mexican Electricity Company. On the other side of the coin,  isn’t “PlayDoIt” a Pornhub channel? I’m pretty sure it is…

Hippo: Let’s Doe It! shows up in my narrow-focused…adult entertainment searching/shame time.  Or so I have heard.  Haha, I made lots of money betting against these fucks on opening noche.

Club Puebla (Yam FC)

Litre_Cola :  I have I believe 5 Puebla jerseys due to my addiction and my friend in LA. The facebook kit still makes Mrs. Cola laugh and she dares me to wear that one to the Latin market or anywhere I would run into a SexiMecsican.

The gold trim is nice there and I am sure Boss Todd Haley approves.

Balls:  Oooh, I’m digging that green and gold Away kit with the white stripe.  That looks NICE! The third jersey also looks very nice.  I may need to head to DTLA and send some to Canada (Hell yeah, dont worry about the Yam candies)…

Hippo: As any parent (ie, reader of baby food jar labels) will tell you, sweet potatoes is the most underrated veg.  Super-duper healthy (at least with Vitamin A and some other shit), and even a child’s palette (like Hippo’s) will tolerate it.  When I eat ribs at a restaurant (ie, maybe never again, but I can still remember it), always get a baked sweet potato with cinnamon but NO GODDAMNED BUTTER.  Oh yeah, the kits.  2 and 3 are cool.

Club Tijuana (Xolos)

Litre_Cola :  I find that black one to be the best of the lucha series. This one may have me flocking to DHgate or my other nefarious jersey site. In fact all of these are pretty sweet and I would definitely wear them all. More and more their Home kit is growing on me.

Balls:  Tijuana has in the past come up with some spectacular alternate jerseys and this year is no exception. That pink jersey looks like it has some cool designs embedded in the pink field. OH SHIT! I just saw the pattern in the black jersey! Blow that picture up to get a closer look! I already own one Xolos jersey. I may need to get another one.

Hippo: I like both especials, this shade of salmon is similar to Everton’s and works for me.

Cruz Azul (Blue Cruise)

Litre_Cola : Balls Padre should be proud these are class and not too busy at all due to not having 17 sponsors. I know if I ever need cement in Mexico that Cemento Crus Azul is who I am going with. This club year in and year out has the best kits edging Leon.

Balls: The alternate jersey is pure CLASS. That harkens back to their glory years in the 70s. I like that they chose the year after they finally won the title again to bring back their old championship look.

Hippo: These are all fantastic, and not just because they remind me of Everton’s best looks.  Crisp and classy.  This might be my favoUrite Mexi-side now.

Deportivo Toluca

Litre_Cola :  Balls they got rid of sponsoring their own kit! The fuck is Roshfrans? (It appears they sell motor oil). These are boring as fuck and I have nothing else to say on the matter.

Balls: Where is the tWBS redhead kid gif when you need it? This is my favourite team but those are Godawful. I have no idea what Roshfranks is, but it makes me think it’s hot dogs and for a team whose nickname is The Chorizeros, that just won’t do.

Hippo: “Roshfrans” sounds vaguely raycess, like KSK Hines Ward trying to speak German.

FC Juarez (Team Donkey Show)

Litre_Cola :  Very different coloUr schemes it seems. I will not say anything about them in fear of the cartel coming after me.

Balls: Nothing to see here.  Move along.

Hippo: I do like betting on these, and kit #3 is pretty ok.  Team Donkey Show FTW!!

Mazatlan FC (El Buccaneros!)

Litre_Cola : Had I not chosen Puebla I would be down with the Bucs. Love their purple jerseys and the black is slick too. They came from Morlelia and these are a vast improvement on what they offered. (Always bet on them at home, NEVER on the road)

Balls:  That’s slightly better.  I’m a sucker for a purple jersey, so I like the Home kit. Yes,  that means I like the Ravens’ uniforms.  I’m a complicated Mexican.

Hippo: Agreed, like the purple one.  The two shades interplay well together.

Pumas UNAM

Litre_Cola :  Why the fuck are these guys with Nike and not Puma? That seems like an easy slam dunk. My 1st Mexi kit was given to me 20 years ago from a mate who visited and it was a Pumas kit. Through the years not much has changed as it looks almost identical to their home. Classic kit this.

Balls:  I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Pumas have the best kit in sports. Period.

Hippo: These look like they were designed by a kindergarten class full of ret…Sam Darnolds.

Querétaro 

Litre_Cola :  This club eats me up in Gamblor’s realm so it makes sense they are sponsored by dog food. You kinda get an Inter Milan vibe with the home kit and the away is crispy.

Balls:  I think the third kit is another Lucha Libre design and it’s great like the others. I’m not sure where this theme came from but kudos to the marketing geniuses that came up with that one.

Hippo: 1 and 2 are decent, but the dog food logo is so bush league that I can’t take them serious-like.

Rayados Monterrey

Litre_Cola : I dislike these guys too. The designers went with straight lines on 3 of the 4 kits, why didn’t they do it on the away one? The Pumas third looks dumb as all the fonts are different.

Balls: On the other hand,  the Monterrey kits look like when those same marketing geniuses run out of coke and realize they still have one more team kit to design. This shit is waay too busy. Hard pass.

Hippo: I kind of like all of these?  Or I am just getting tired.  OK, tired-ER.

Santos Laguna (La-Gooners)

Litre_Cola :  This is my most hated team in Liga MX, fuck them. Burn em all.

Balls: These are good updates to the traditional kits. You can tell it’s a Santos kit, yet it feels fresh and modern.  Only for Santos fans,  but they are solid kits that should make a few bucks.

Hippo: Don’t like 1 or 4, but middle two are a’ight.

Tigres UANL

LC : Like Pumas these are classic. I love the third kit, but the second is trash. I am really tempted to buy the 3rd. Does Gignac still play there?

Balls: I’m not a big fan of these designs.  I think the paw prints should be bigger on the home jersey. The third jersey looks like LAFC’s non-union Mexican equivalent.  The colour on the second jersey looks nice for a day at the beach,  but not for a day on the pitch.

Hippo: What a lazy fookin’ marketing department here.  3 isn’t bad, but 1 and 2 suck out loud.
