Your Christmas Day NFL Football Open Thread Part One

Merry Holiday, you delightful miscreants! I just noticed that I labeled last night’s thread as a Sunday night. Was I distracted by the notion of having to socialize? Was I rushing to get it done? Was I just going thru the motions? Most certainly. I sincerely hope that all who read this have a minimally stressful day as possible under the circumstances.

To The Game!

Packers/Fins:

-Miami was looking much better three weeks ago when they possessed a sporty 8-3 record and were battling Buffalo for the division lead. But then they caught three straight losses and are now 8-6.

-Here’s some sweet news, “Even if the Packers win out they have no guarantee of getting into the playoffs“. FiveThirtyEight gives them an 11% chance to get in at present and with a win their odds increase to 28%.

-And it’s not as though they’ve turned things around from earlier in the season-you can still run on them and hell, you can pass on them as former shutdown fella Jaire Alexander is having a down (for him) year.

-Is the NFL coaching fraternity a closed circle that loves to recycle? [Brian Flores nods] Well, coaches McDaniel and LaFleur have worked as assistants together in Houston, Washington and Atlanta. But I guess it’s like any other profession in that one must network and get one’s name out there in order to succeed. And we should know by now that coaching in college is a whole n’other bucket of fish. So, yeah.

-Just Trade The Guy: Mike Gesicki, who everyone acknowledges is a talented player, has been targeted five times in the last four games. He had 73 catches last year. I think there’s some talent being left off the field by the coaching staff.
