So that’s a nice thing. Through 2/5 of the season, tied for the division lead at 7-5. Because almost everyone else is 6-6, because oh, we got parity.
Highlights from the first four series (including a 9-game homestand):
-Came back from an 8-5 deficit in the 8th inning to salvage the last game against the 2-time defending champions (and designated rival) New Orleans Blues, thanks to an 8th inning 6-spot. (One of like 3 or 4 Brooklyn has had this season! But only 6, haven’t put up more in a frame. And 12 runs is the max before we run out of numbers and have to use a 1 and 3… we’ve put up 11+ 4 times in 13 games, but not enough to get to 13. But I’ll take consistency!)
-Took 2/3 from divisional archrivals, the New York Titans, thanks to an 11th-inning walk-off homer by new CI Tanner Stewart (at like 1:30 in the morning of a game we started at midnight due to future scheduling issues)
-Dakota Story threw 8 shutout innings against the Delco Cheesesteaks in a 12-4 win. (Unfortunately the fatigue +1 hit in the 9th to immediately give up a homer, which caused a double fatigue +2 which ended up giving up another homer to take him out because you can’t triple fatigue, you have to take them out first.)
-A pitcher’s duel on 9/11… there’s probably jokes there, but you can come up with. Not appearing at the ballpark: Agent Orange.
-A 4-game winning streak!
So yeah, a little bit more getting on base has helped a little, beats losing games 5-4! Will this luck hold? Well, who knows?
In other non-human sports news, the Hubelino Marble Tournament has started, and notably, Greg Woods is Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Series. The Voice of Marble Sports (and a cool guy to talk to, can confirm) is taking an R&R before the new season of Marbula One, so the person who does the in-stadium announcements is taking over play-by-play duties for this one. It’s a little less hectic, since it’s just one team/marble at a time, but it’s definitely big shoes to fill.
I should probably watch the BattleBots Face-Offs vids, as we have confirmation that Witch Doctor is competing this weekend. (It’ll be they’re 48th, 49th, and 50th modern BattleBots fights, which is far and away the most since they’ve competed every season.)
What about in the NFL?
–In (Ty)rod we trust: Fields out (concussion), Taylor in this week for the Jets. Makes it easier for me to start Stroud and not backdoor my way into a win.
-Khalil Mack’s injured, but not out for the year regarding his elbow.
Okay, what’s on?
We might have baseball, and there’s definitely WNBA playoffs.
