Western and Gold Coast both lost, allowing Port Adelaide, Sydney, and Carlton to have a glimmer of hope. Carlton is a total longshot but weirder things have happened.
The question now is which of Western or Gold Coast drops out of the Eight? Heck, it could be both! I think all the teams at 48 points are safely in Finals.
There are only five games left and it seems like the Essendon-Gold Coast game that hasn’t been made up yet will be crucial in determining the final Eight. I think they will play it during the bye week that takes place between the last Round and the start of Finals. Should Gold Coast win and get in, they will have one week less rest than everyone else.
The big surprise this week was Collingwood falling to Fremantle in Perth. Does that mean they’re vulnerable or was it an aberration?
Next week, you have essentially Rivalry Week. I am not sure if the AFL did that on purpose, but the Sydney Derby (GWS v Sydney), the Perth Derby (Fremantle v West Coast), the Q-clash (Brisbane v Gold Coast), and The Showdown (Adelaide v Port Adelaide) are all taking place next week. Add to that Richmond-Collingwood and Hawthorn-Carlton and you’ve got a lot teams that don’t like each other playing in the same week.
The Tipping Pool is heating up! It’s still an open competition and a lot of people can win. For this week, Sharky hands on to the top spot!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.

I remember the good times in the mid-Thirties when Spain and Germany worked together to accomplish a goal instead of competing for goals.
One of the many things that has been keeping me awake at night got resolved today, YAY! My military ID was going to expire August 8th. I went on the website to make an appointment at every military installation between here and San Diego, nobody had appointments until well into September. And the website said I needed a CAC and an 1171 form signed by my sponsor. I have never heard of a CAC, and Gumby’s not up to signing forms anymore, at least not in this dimension. So I went into March Air Force Reserve base fully prepared to throw myself on the floor and sob, but a nice girl working there took pity on me and got my card for me. And changed my address in DEERs, which I’ve at least heard of, but have no idea what it stands for. I just know it’s important. This is the first military thing I’ve done since Gumby died that hasn’t been a ridiculous painful ordeal, it restored my faith in humanity a wee bit!
