Tonight and tomorrow night are Manhattanhenge, a twice-yearly phenomenon (once in the spring, once in the summer) where the setting sun aligns perfectly with the Manhattan street grid. It looks something… like-a this.
It’s enough of a nerdy curiosity that it’s right up my alley! So of course I’ve never successfully gone—I would’ve in May when it worked out on the other side of the solstice but it was cloudy and rainy and therefore pointless to look for a sunset. But I have rehearsals tonight and tomorrow, so maybe if I’m lucky break will fall right during sunset!

Well, shit.

Nobody was taken in the supplemental draft. The two players eligible, DL Tavares Bingham and RB Marques Rodgers, will both become free agents.
Speaking of drafts, USC QB Sam Darnold told teams to not tank for him. Sources say he may spend another two years there.
Texans DE and not-a-distraction J.J. Watt has a clothing line, called the J.J. Watt Collection, for when there are #NoDaysOff and you need to grind and not be a distraction. You can watch the infomercial here, and in case you were wondering, yes, the opening shot is an American flag. The internets made jokes.
In a blow for Redacted fans, Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper praised Dak Prescott and the Cowboys while being interviewed during the MLB All-Star Game last night. (And by during, we mean while he was in the outfield.)
On the other hand, free agent RB DeAngelo Williams said that he wouldn’t want to play for the Cowboys due to being a 49ers fan when he grew up. He also told the Panthers, Jaguars, and Browns not to call—the Panthers because “there are things that went on there that I didn’t like—and I still don’t like to this day,” comparing it to an ex, and the Jaguars and Browns because they’re the Jaguars and Browns. (The Browns “don’t have a history of winning,” and regarding the Jags Williams said he couldn’t “think of anything positive about that organization outside of the fact that they have pools in the stadium.”)
• The tarps feel hurt, DeAngelo.

Lesser footy controversy! While some of us were watching the basedball All-Star Game, French Guiana decided to screw the rules. Florent Malouda had previously been ruled ineligible to play in the Gold Cup by CONCACAF as a result of playing 80 games for France, including the 2006 World Cup Final. He was allowed to play in lower-tier tournaments like the Caribbean Cup but since the Gold Cup actually means something, they use FIFA rules of eligibility, which state Malouda is cap-tied to France. The match against Honduras ended in a goalless draw but it is expected that French Guiana will have to forfeit 3-0.
• Scratch what I said about rooting for French Guiana, then.
Left turn controversy! NASCAR driver Kyle Larson was docked 35 points and crew chief Chad Johnston was suspended for three races due to finding an illegal rear brake cooling assembly. Larson, who finished second in the race in Kentucky on Saturday after starting from the back for not passing prequalifying inspections, and then from returning to the back after a speeding penalty on pit road, had taken a one-point lead in the NASCAR Cup prior to the point reduction.
Novak Djokovic retired from his quarterfinal match at Wimbledon with an issue in his right elbow.
The NBA reduces the number of timeouts per team per game from nine to seven and the number of overtime timeouts from three to two.

So that does it for me for now. I believe Litre’s got you covered tomorrow before your weekly dose of sexy from tWBS on Friday. And it’s just as well, I’m running low on totally unnecessary tidbits! How does Bearguyron Beerguyrob do this day after day? Oh right, Canada 150. And being not-Canadian, it wouldn’t feel right for me to do that. Anyway…
Have at it, lizard people!
Make the case for me keeping Drew Brees or Amari Cooper in a 10 team 4 keeper league. I’m listening…
Life is meaningless and the world could come crashing down well before the end of the season?
We’re so poor right now, I’m standing over a wok full of buttered cauliflower at quarter to 2 in the morning. MOAR TRICKLE DOWN PLEEZ!!!
Butter??? Rich cunt.
Well, today was ok I guess.
Nicest thing I’ll say all week.

Somehow reminded me of this.
I refuse to believe the Jets will be historically bad and the Pats way above the other teams. Sometimes those consensus trufs turn out way wrong.
OK bad examples. Maybe!
/checks rosters
Even if the P*ts aren’t historically good they’ll put up historically good numbers just for playing two games against the Jets.
From what I remember, the Jets give the Pats some difficulty at least one game per season. Sure* enough to not Googling it.
*Lazy
/like the joke!
Normally yes. But this iteration does suck. Even by Jets standards.

I don’t know if any of you have ever played the Fire Pro series, but Fire Pro Wrestling World on steam is definitely worth giving a shot with a fork.
Is his rasslin’ name Bad Mother Forker?

Great Photo.
Martinique just tied the USMNT. I find this absolutely hilarious.
Aaaaaand the USMNT just untied it.
Apparently we’re just fucking with them.

I’m gonna guess they don’t bite.
I lmao’d at this.
I need to put the pipe down.
speaking of, where’s Redshirt been?
It is a murder mystery type deal. I hate and love you guys.
Well, nothing sports-wise looks entertaining tonight. Guess I’ll just do a little light reading.
If I had a nickel….
Those can be painful to pass for sure.
other July entertainment pickins – I certainly did enjoy last week’s first “Snowfall.” Lacked most of the eye-roll elements of your typical pilot episode. Actor who plays the main character is charismatic as fuck. You want him to stick it to whitey, and good, from jump street.
I’ve been meaning to ask about that. Haven’t bitten into the premiere, but now think I will tonight.
It’s worthy of the investment. Gotta watch somethin!

It’s the middle of fucking July, goddammit!-give me yours.
I’ve been catching up on my WWI/WWII docs.
Just watched a multi part Stalin series. It failed to depress me more than I already was so, two thumbs down.
But it wasn’t terrible.
If you need something to cheer you up and restore your faith in the love of human nature, check out almost anything about the siege/ battle of Stalingrad. Wonderful, wonderful stuff that will put a smile on your face.
watched same Stalin thing. Liked it very much. Read Drew’s “The Hike” – same. Now reading Noah Hawley’s excellent “Before The Fall”
I’ve watched that doc series multiple times.
Dude is interesting as hell, but I wouldn’t want to have pissed him off.
