Evening, lizard people. For this week’s Wumbo Wednesday we’ll do things a little differently. Namely because I have robot fights to watch even if we all knew what happened if we paid attention.

As this past Saturday morning Hippo thoughts alluded to, the Premier League is back. Now, for a variety of reasons, I don’t have a team. Among them, never gotten into club soccer, no particular allegiance to a team, sleeping in, or, more recently, taking Senorita Weaselo to work on Saturdays. So, let’s recap some things about me:

Current teams I root for: Yankees, Jets, Rangers, Knicks, St. John’s men’s basketball, Team Momo (Marble League)

Relevant (non-rival) teams family roots for: Juventus, Bayern Munich (kinda, to the extent Padre Weaselo cares about soccer which is not at all)

Relevant to where the family’s from: SSC Bari (Serie B), ASD Audax Rutigliano (Five-a-side, Serie C2-Puglia)

Other possibly controversial opinions:
-Spyro over Crash (not that strong for me though)
-Early Sonic over early Mario, though the later games are obvious
-Squirtle as my Pokémon starter, picked Team Instinct for Pokémon Go.
-Gran Turismo over Forza
-Smash mains: Fox & Marth/Lucina; occasional playing as Game & Watch or Pit (though I liked his Brawl set better)
-Harry Potter house: Ravenclaw, but we’re in America, so when I did the test I ended up in Thunderbird. Even if the Fantastic Beast movies are trashing whatever legacy JK Rowling hasn’t damaged herself.

And at the risk of starting the great cookie war again, I like the peanut butter ones.

That should be the big ones, so use that as a sounding board. Just don’t give me Liverpool, since the guy who runs the Red Sox owns them too. Hell, use that as another thing!

The best idea will get absolutely nothing, since I probably won’t watch anyway. Argue away while we don’t watch football (nothing on) and there probably isn’t any national baseball on, because who would want live sports and not talking heads? Anyway, fight for my not-that-undying allegiance!

I don’t understand people who take jobs after retirement. Are they really so incapable of amusing themselves in this infinite world that they are left with the choices of wasting away or being a greeter at Walmart? And wouldn’t wasting away be the better of the two choices?

I met an Uber driver in Austin who was a golf pro and then retired and was like “I miss being around people” so he drove Uber for like 4 hours a day 3 days a week. Nice guy.

Ok, yinz noe it’s the Stillers and Pens in the pros, with the Rams as my current side bitch. I refuse to recognize dirt football, for obvious, painful reasons! Gimme my Blazers all day for college stuff, although remember that I went to Georgia through my Junior year, and grew up a Pitt fan. Pro basketball used to be the Seattle Supersonics and Showtime! But I could not give a rat’s ass now.
And I was sorted into Slytherin! If I had to pick a lesser footy team, I’d probably go with Palace, being a fucking princess myself!

Thinking about taking up lesser football myself. As a non-mormon Utah native, we don’t really have any local pro teams outside of the Jazz, so my loyalties were forged as a kid in the very early 80’s. Likes: Chicago Bears, Yankees in dirt football, Jazz in wood football, Flames in ice football Secular Big Love for college sports and Ferrari in F1. Mostly teams that had flashes of brilliance in the distant, distant past but have mostly turned to liquid shit recently.

Exceptional suggestion! Perhaps our colleague should consider supporting FC Barcelona as well if he’s going down that road. It seems like it was just yesterday that they had a starting 11 that was the envy of the world. Now they’re more like FC “leave-my-arse-alona”.

Wrexham is available for everyone as a non-Premier or Champion’s leagues team. I highly recommend the white jersey and the red one. The blue away jersey is not a good color.

I was going to say, do I have to by extension care about NYCFC because the Yankees are part-owners? But then again, Yankee Stadium doesn’t care about them considering there wasn’t a damn thing about that in December but there were ads for the Pinstripe Bowl.

Not sure what it says about my personality, but I only have teams I pull against, none that I pull for. Kinda like the glass half full or empty, I just know it is something that stains, which I will have to clean up when it is inevitably spilled on something expensive.

Did not realize how much of an downer I sounded, but I must admit that I am glad that I do not have the power to reach through a zoom meeting and strangle people, otherwise I would be in trouble for multiple homicides today. BTW, I did always think that Vader’s ability to force choke over what was basically a video call, was the greatest Force power of them all. Just think of the carnage if everyone could do that.

This failed program is right up there with DePaul. There’s a shit-ton of basketball talent coming out of that city and both programs dropped the ball so badly.

It’s so frickin’ obvious that the ‘powers that be’ don’t give a lick about the program. I’m not invested in DePaul being a power program, I’m just saying that one right coaching hire and a small bit of effort on the recruiting front would pay massive dividends to the damn Vincentians that founded the school.

Can I recruit you as another City of Men supporter? The only reason I supported them initially was because I was so impressed with The Broom’s play for Bell Gum a few years ago. As a Giants, SillyCuse and Senators fan, I’m astounded that this team is well-managed, allocates its resources well and is absolutely out front about its desire to win. And actually goes about it in a smart, calculated manner!*
