I want an outside opinion on this. What I love about the Warriors is that its a shitty, but intentional good, movie. I fuccking detest movies that “tr” to be bad. Its over the top, but its not miserably over the top like say “Death Wish”. The whole gang thing is goofy heightened to an unreal point (gangs don’t have a mime makeup budget) but the dialogue is tight and the cinematography is so much fucking better than a lot of “blockbuster” films that are coming out now. Its a modern retelling of Greeks trying to escape Persia and it shows NYC before it turned into a Yuppie enclave.
I once broke up with a girl over this film. She was a film student in college. She tried to argue that “boyhood” was a good film and I brought up that a lot of modern film like “boyhood” is just joyless fucking nonsense. She argued that there was no difference between “The Warriors” and “Transformer”.
I actually kicked out of my bedroom a woman that was 11 years younger than me.
I suspect the commentariate would support me in this. Liking “Transformers” as a film is on par with trying to justify the Holocaust to me.
