This week, we will have an abbreviated AFL Beat as real life got in the way.
TO THE GAMES!
Welcome to Balls of Steel’s AFL Beat!
The Semi-finals started with the surprising Melbourne Demons taking on the Hawthorn Hawks at the MCG. The Demons had not been this far in finals in 17 years while the Hawks had missed finals last year for the first time in what seemed like 17 years.
Would experience win out? No, it did not. The Demons played extremely well and held off a push by the Hawks in the third for the 104-71 victory. Here are the highlights:
In the second semifinal, we had a similar scenario since the Pies had not tasted finals in a few years while the Giants have been deep in finals in the last few years.
Again, recent experience did not win out. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but there is something special about these Pies that reminds me of last year’s Tigers. The Pies won 69-59 (NICE!) and here are the highlights:
Again, I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I think the winner of the Tigers-Pies game wins the Grand Final.

SonOfSpam has essentially wrapped up the competition with a perfect week and an o-fer from Sunrisesunrise. Only an o-fer for the rest of the season and perfect picks from Sunrisesunrise PLUS a narrowing of the margin difference will allow him to overtake SonOfSpam. Props again to Game Time Decision who put up another perfect week. There are still final ladder positions to fight for, so
DON’T FORGET TO PUT THE FOOTY TIPS IN!!

That’s all for this week. There are three games left and I believe they will all be on Fox Sports 2. Watch them!
Ball’s AFL Beat is my favorite feature on DFO because I don’t understand any of it.

My former colleague who is a Pies fan is not as optimistic as I am about their chances down the stretch.
Guess I can put my imaginary GWS gear away until next season…*sigh*
Is your middle name “Herbert”?
That’s a funny ass show.
It really is.
There was a really funny segment in this week’s Front Bar where they interviewed a Collingwood fan and asked her where she got her cool Collingwood-themed furniture. She replied, looking at the reporter like he was an idiot for even asking the question, “Stole it!”

/willing to reach in and help her correct that
I’m still baffled that she’s a Collingwood fan.
I bet if we tried hard enough (hehehehe “hard enough”) we could turn her to Geelong.
Well, maybe not this year.
I bet Candice Swaenpoel needs a team!!!!!!
KISS HER!!!!!!
And that’s how Aussie footy site Kissing Candace Swaenpoel got its name!
