Last week I promised you fine folks a funny story about Valentine’s Day. But the more I thought about it the more I realized it wasn’t so much a funny story as it was a rather sad and depressing story. And if you read my dumbass series on relationships this past summer then you already know the setup. No need to beat a dead horse on that one. Plus for the rest of that story I wouldn’t come off too well probably. But that happened a year ago today.
Oh well.
And it’s not that I don’t believe in love. For those of you who have found it or who might find it in the future, more power to you. But there comes a time in life when you’ve reached an age, and when you’ve had enough failed relationships, it’s just not worth the effort anymore.
I’d rather stay at home by myself and watch sportsballing, interact with you heathens, and do what the hell I want to do. Sad? Maybe. But at least then I don’t get my heart broken for trying to be caring, kind and supportive. And I don’t get yelled at…EVAR.
And Bonus… Not one single penny spent on flowers, candy, dinner or gifts.
Perhaps I sound cynical? DON’T CARE!!!! It’s a win-win from where I’m sitting.

Senorita Weaselo and I finished my first playthrough of The Wolf Among Us (based on the Fables comic series). Also brown sugar bubble tea is extremely good.
And I learned that they’re making a movie based on ELP’s “Karn Evil 9” so I’m very excited.
In keeping with the theme of the evening:

Oh shit, I just realized we could start a DFO breeders channel.
Blax, Spam, Hippo, Litre, Shark, et al send an email to corporate for details.
Is this a weird sex cult thing?
“And it’s not that I don’t believe in love. For those of you who have found it or who might find it in the future, more power to you. But there comes a time in life when you’ve reached an age, and when you’ve had enough failed relationships, it’s just not worth the effort anymore.”
This is a perfectly written sentiment.
It’s a matter of self preservation after you’ve had your heart broken.
Every. Fucking. Time!
Just had one fizzle a couple days ago. She broke it off because I don’t have kids of my own and she doesn’t think she can date guys that don’t have kids. She’s a single mom and I had exactly zero problems with that. When you’re 41 years old, that’s pretty much what’s out there. And it was actually one of the things I was most attracted to her, The fact that she could hold down a great career, grad school and still be a kickass parent. I liked her kids a lot. I realize her time is valuable and relished every second with her without being demanding of her time. I’m not sure where I went wrong.
I’ve got a rather large extended family of kids. Maybe a few from this exact situation.
More than a few actually.
The thing is I never lost my relationships with the kids even though I wasn’t the biological Father. It really doesn’t matter once you bond with them and make their school lunches and help with their homework and cook for them.
It’s especially helpful if they compliment your food.
I’m easy with a food compliment.
But you shared a life with them. Helped raise them and have common bonds.
That will always be there.
Yeah, at a certain age, everybody’s got baggage, because “not having baggage” is considered baggage.
I have plenty of friends and family who got divorced or split up from someone they had kids with, so I’m not trying to be too judgmental here. But there is something funny about people judging those of us who, well, not to put too fine a point on it, but …. DIDN’T PLEDGE OUR UNDYING LOVE AND MIX OUR DNA WITH someone unsuitable. Yeah, sure, I’m the immature one.
I procreated and have less than zero complaints by doing so but does EVERY body else have to do so too?
I do love this song so:

Folks
We talking about lost loves?
Sure. You have the floor.
Every six weeks or so, since she’s been cognizant of my ability to read to her, Lil’ WCS brings this book, titled, “The Story of Saint Valentine.” I’ve read this to her in Aprils, Mays, Septembers, you get the idea. I offered to read it to her today. She wanted to watch The Smurfs Movie, instead.
I’ll report back on the Fourth of July when she has me it to her three times.
I’ll say one thing for Valentine’s Day: Whole Foods puts steaks on sale.
It’s Friday! Friday! Friday!
This deserves an encore:
The “Love is a fart” thing is hilarious and totally true.
Hehehe…I thought you’d like that one.

Came for the J Geils clip, was not disappointed. Fucking phenomenal album, if’n you youngsters aren’t aware of it.
Always wondered how Peter Wolf ended up married to Faye Dunaway. Big 10 inch record? Nah, that’s the Jagger-lipped Tyler guy from the South Shore.
I also enjoyed the “Love at First Feel” video. Had Dirty Deeds on vinyl as a kid and probably shouldn’t have. Played it A LOT.
When I am feeling Zappa-esque wthout wanting to listen to Zappa, No Anchovies Please fills the bill.
Dude! I saw J. Geils Band live at the Ilse? of Rock in the middle of the fucking Mississippi River.
Quad Cities. Uh, 1981?
It was on Credit Island, a big ass island in the middle of the river near Rock Island Illinois.
Sammy Hagar, Outlaws, REO Speedwagon (impolite cough) and J fucking Geils.
They were really good.
As was the Orange Sunshine.
Who wants an orange?
I made it from scratch!
Is that Rex Ryan with the H on his forehead?
Tigra is a Cat/Human.
I’m glad she’s staying hydrated. That’s important on a bottomless hike.
I really miss ribaldry. It made the 60s and 70s very special.
Not sure if this will work — nothing I try to link ever does.
Edited: It didn’t. It was this thing: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/tales-of-ribaldry/n9700
There was a Betty Page documentary came out a few years ago; she was a real trailblazer, naked or not.
