NFL Natterings:
- Well, Deshaun Watson’s lawyer is making friends at the NFL head office.
- He said “some of the women did not feel like they were being respected” during their first three meetings with the league’s lead investigator, Lisa Friel.
- Friel had a career as the chief of the sex crimes unit in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and has been the NFL’s special counsel for investigations for the last six years.
- The League’s response was that “Lisa has earned a stellar reputation as a consummate professional who conducts investigations and interviews with compassion and fairness in an effort to determine the truth.”
- “The investigation includes gathering information, monitoring law enforcement developments and conducting interviews with relevant people willing to participate with counsel present.”
- He said “some of the women did not feel like they were being respected” during their first three meetings with the league’s lead investigator, Lisa Friel.
- The Packers have solved their QB problem by signing check-down master Blake Bortles to a one-year deal.
- He hasn’t played since 2019 when he was a Rams backup.
Schedule Release Day took most of the steam out of the NFL’s engine. But it built in some marketable drama:
- Brady returns to Boston in Week Four to play the Patriots, and that could also be the week he passes Drew Brees on the all-time yardage list.
- And the Patriots are delighted to find out that they will face three opponents coming off a bye week, and on net the Patriots will have 15 fewer rest days than their opponents.
- The Lions visit the Rams in Week Seven, so Jared Goff gets to go home again.
- While Jags-Bengals has all the natural appeal of watching dogs eat grass, it does allow for a 2019 BCS rematch between Joe Burrow & Trevor Lawrence.
I was bored trying to pep up tonight’s thread, but the title – which I came up with long before I had to conceive more words – helped me out once that wall had my faceprint on it.
There are always three stills that can explain every Star Trek Original Series episode:
1. The Enterprise at a planet that has an old guy living with a much younger wife/daughter
2. Kirk eventually does his thing.
3. Conflict!
The rest usually sorts itself out. Usually, that involves Scotty drinking.
You magnificent bastard.

You know what should help me finish this ppt? A glass of tequila.
Couldn’t hurt.
Yes, tequila, the classic girl drink
Hey – it’s midnight. I just wanted “hung over at desk” as a gif.
I am packing for my first flight tomorrow since March 19, 2020.
I figured Matt Gaetz more as a Lucky Strike guy.

Mostly dead?
I can linearly trace the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey along with the lunar program to my job that I’ve held for 23 years.
And I couldn’t be more grateful.
Fuck. That is an amazing film.
My dad took me to the film’s premiere in DC when it came out. Can’t remember the name of the theater, one of those nice old theaters from the 30s or 40s….
Imagine how fucking pissed I was when I turned 42 in 2001 and we weren’t any closer to having a moon base that year than we were in 1971…
I saw it in New Orleans when it came out. We were there for my cousin’s wedding. All of our parents were hanging out in the French Quarter getting shitfaced, and we pretty much ran wild. It was a fun vacation for everyone.
You saw it at the Uptown Theater on Connecticut Ave NW. It’s still there.
The Uptown and the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood are the two best screens in the U.S. However, The Dome closed during the pandemic. I can’t see it staying closed.
I saw Apocalypse Now in 1979 at the Uptown and still have the program they handed out with it. I saw it again at the Dome in the 90s.
I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey re-released at the Uptown, as well as the re-release of Lawrence of Arabia.
These are all BIG SCREEN movies.
CORRECTION: The Uptown Theater in DC closed in March 2020. Damn.
Fuck. I loved the Cinerama Dome. I saw The Jerk there when it first came out. Cool part of town and very different for some desert rats from the high desert.
I’m bummed that my favorite Arclight theater in El Segundo is part of that closure.
Man, select your own seat. Full bar. Decent food.
I don’t want to go to a crowded AMC in PV.
Pandemic done fucked with my movie going vibe.
The Dome had reserved seats, ushers, and no previews. The screen was gigantic.
I saw Dunkirk there and the last movie I saw there (might be the last movie I saw in a theater) was Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which featured an exterior shot of the Cinerama Dome inside of which I was watching the exterior shot of the Cinerama Dome inside of which I was watching the exterior shot of the Cinerama Dome inside of which I was watching the exterior shot of the Cinerama Dome inside of which I was watching the exterior shot of the Cinerama Dome inside of which I was watching the exterior shot of the Cinerama Dome inside of which I was watching the

Well, didn’t see that little history lesson coming. Thank you!
Pops was a pencil pusher at NWC and used to answer the phone “Quality assurance?” But Ma did the real shit. She got awards and cash for her work on the Phoenix and Sidewinder missile projects.
Ma was no joke.
I saw it first at the Crest drive in in Ridgecrest California in my dad’s VW micro bus and I distinctly remember him turning to my mom and saying “What the fuck did we just watch?”
Then he went to the snack bar to take a leak and grab some food.
I don’t remember the second feature.
One of the things that most folks don’t realize is that 2001 was shot before WE LANDED ON THE MOON!
Granted having Arthur C. Clarke as an advisor helped but still. They showed a face time conversation in 1968!
Also the fact that all of the space segments were shown without sound was perfect since space is in a fucking vacuum.
A few years later the first time I saw Star Wars I fucked with a buddy of mine and said “How can there be big fiery explosions in space when there is NO FUCKING OXYGEN!?”
He told me to shut up he’s watching a movie.
2001 is text book space.
But Q told me that they used the extra footage to fake the moon landing. Now I don’t know what to believe.
Frying up wings right now. A few different sauces for the variety.
Always Korean sauce. Always.

Is Scotty the only redshirt that survives in Star Trek?
TOS – yes.
I guess the other ones just weren’t drunk enough…
The moral of the story is drink more whisky apparently
Make sense. Kind of like being in a car accident, when you’re drunk, your body loosens up, whereas when you’re sober, your body tightens up and causes all kinds of whiplash pain, etc
And our Redshirt.
As a Republican he survives here, and survived Trump. Plus from my understanding he is due for an “Animal Farm” lottery for getting vaxxed!
ACTUALLY, although many redshirts died, proportionately, it was more dangerous to be a gold shirt:

Knock at door. I got my case of wine a week early.
Also, Today I got more hash and weed in the mail!
Not too much bullshit at work,
Cue Ice cube.

And next week you’ll get a special Mexican- themed care package!
Oh I have somethin cookin for this booze exchange. Plus chips!
I’m not a fan of the baseball but I can appreciate a brilliant technician when I see one. If Ichiro wanted to get to first base he was gonna make it happen.

“I was the same way for all the bases.” — Harvey Weinstein
Totally on porpoise.
Didn’t target the hit or hit from behind. Clean hit, no penalty
Hi Mr. Parros!
Definitely intentional. Paddle surfer was fuckin’ up their gig.
That’s hilarious. “This is OUR wave, ya bald Ape”
Better at tackling than the Jets
I still can’t believe the NHL is making the non playoffs teams playout the string, even when the playoffs begin on Saturday.

Never contemplated what Space Scotch might taste like.
Excellent episode. Scotty & Tomar’s drinkathon is #1 (on this list at least) https://trekmovie.com/2008/12/31/star-treks-greatest-moments-in-drinking/
