NFL Noise: Still pretty quiet.
- Washington is going to let Tackle Morgan Moses try & find himself a trade, otherwise they will cut him before camp.
- He has a 2021 salary of $7.75 million, but costs only $1.9 million against the cap to release.
- The big problem is that he is guaranteed that salary wherever he ends up, so he’s likely only going to a (bad) team with cap room.
- The Dolphins are leaning towards Myles Gaskin being their #1 running back this season.
- When asked about a pay raise to reflect that new reality, his response was that the decision was “above my pay grade”.
- Foxborough is still Hoyer Country!
- He signed another one-year deal, and this will continue his third stint with the club. (2009-2011, 2017-2018 and 2020)

It astounds me how lazy some people can be when it comes to food. Like, I’m one of the laziest sonofabitches on the entire planet but at least I can be bothered to make a sandwich. Even *that* is beyond some people, and multiple fortunes have undoubtedly been made by exploiting that fact.
Cooking for yourself is such a money-saver. Or alternatively you can spend the same money but eat like a king. I can have a massive steak and sides at home for what it costs to have a pizza delivered.
When rib roast goes on sale I can have an obscenely good meal – like 1.5 lbs of beef and assorted sides for about the price of one share of $DFO – that’s $12 for the new folks.

A hearty “fuck you” to Tony LaRussa, who just said he was ok with the Minnesota Twins throwing at one of his players, because said player committed the grave crime of hitting a home run in the previous game and hurting the fee-fees of the Twins by making them lose 16-5 instead of 15-5.
Maybe I’d be more willing to hear shit about the “unwritten rules” if LaRussa could manage to follow actual written laws like “don’t drive drunk.”

Some other position player pitched a 1-2-3 inning on like 5 pitches the other day, and everyone laughed at the guys who couldn’t get a hit off him. It was all in fun. So why shouldn’t the hitters get a laugh in every now and then? The position player who’s pitching shouldn’t give a shit, it’s not like his career depends on his ERA.

I get there are perhaps some things you don’t do in a blowout, like stealing bases. In hockey, you don’t put your best power play unit out there, give the other guys a chance. But those other guys try to score, and in baseball, guys try to hit. If you want to turn MLB into Little League and have a “mercy rule” to end the game, then just do that.
But even if a manger disagrees and believes in this “unwritten rule” bullshit, you don’t throw your own guy under the bus.
It was such a mistake for Chicago to hire this guy. They’ve got a talented young team but are likely going to piss it away with this dinosaur running things.

Here’s an Apollo command module sitting on a roller stand, on the main floor of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Annex at Dulles Airport. There’s just a little fence around it, and I could have touched it.
I looked at the sign and it was the fucking Apollo 11 command module.
I’ve known this thing since it was first put on display at the main NASM on The Mall, and it was always encased in form-fitting plexiglass. This was just sitting there. Except for the main hatch being removed and replaced with a plexiglass panel, it was exactly as if it had just been lifted out of the Pacific Ocean.
I guess they figured if Mike Pence had already touched it, why not everyone?

So in this evening’s chapter in “What’s Mrs. Cornblower Got Up Her Sleeve This Time?” I had to stop working earlier than I anticipated because they’re leveling the elementary school my kids went to and the rose bush that was planted in memory of her murdered friend is going to go with it.

I read that Udvar-Hazy was going to re-open, guess it did? Cool place. I think my favorite displays were the salvaged WWII Luftwaffe planes.
Is the ME-163 still there? The website only shows that Arado, the Dornier Arrow, and an FW190. There were some other bits and bobs, but its been a few years since I visited.
The museum on The Mall is closed for Covid but also for major structural repairs and exhibit modifications. That’s where the Me-262 and Bf-109 are displayed. I bet they completely screw up the new exhibits.

I remember Chantilly being mostly strip malls, and a bouncer at a bar not going to let me in because he thought I wasnt 21. I turned 21 the previous year. He was bad at math.
The museum is next to Dulles Airport, so not really “in” Chantilly but Chantilly adjacent. As for Chantilly, there is no “there” there.
Have been visiting the A&S museum since the 1960s, last visit about 8 years ago, but I was left much more impressed by the Udvar-Hazy.

Someone with a private account I follow on Twitter has just called the police. A few doors down, there is a woman and a man and a prostitute. The woman is out on bail for a few charges. She was arrested for possession and resisting arrest a few weeks ago at a gas station. But, the meat of this is that she was arrested the other day for attempted murder and more drug charges for stabbing the man in the head and then hitting him with something. This house is, from my understanding, a place where the woman and the man sell drugs out of.
Anyway, she is out on bail, apparently running around the house (like around, not inside) in just her underwear, while the man she stabbed is inside with the prostitute. I’m waiting for the update.
That’s fucking crazy.

I don’t have the play-by-play, but let me share more deets, with the stuff I just learned and need to correct:
They didn’t charge her with attempted murder, even though she stabbed the man in the head and didn’t hit him with an object, but was strangling him. Felony DV and aggravated DV. I hear they were trading blows, but she was the aggressor.
They only charged her with resisting arrest for the gas station incident, so no possession, but she was high as kite.
She is still waiting on a trial from 2015 where she is charged with robbing a “dwelling” and destroying property.
The landlord on the property is the man’s father, so no chance of being evicted.
He OD’d the other week and his heart stopped in front of all the neighborhood kids.
They have had their kids taken away (for the best really).

In 1984 Gumby’s submarine moved to Bremerton Washington from Charleston to decomission. An aircraft carrier got there right before we did, so the only apartment we could get was in a shitty part of town, mostly Section 8 people( not like we had any money either!) There were these two lesbians who lived across the courtyard from us who would fistfight out there on the regular because one of them was less than dedicated to the Sapphic life and would sneak off and bang dudes. Gumby and I literally would sit out there on our front porch, drink beer, and laugh like hell at them. It’s a wonder they didn’t come after us too. One of them was huge and kind of terrifying, I saw her drag the Filipino maintenance guy off his golf cart and beat him to a pulp because he stole her kid’s bike. Yes, they fought in front of the tots. Lovely girls!
To be clear, I would never live in Florida ever again. That place is cursed.
Oldest son is getting four wisdom teeth taken out tomorrow. (one is severely impacted) He’s putting up a brave front but I know he’s scared shitless.
