It’s that shitty part of June, where the weather has one last bad mood to get rid of before the summer can truly begin. Luckily, in BC our vaccination numbers are 75% at first dose, so we are well on the way to hopefully being able to leave the house by August.
The beautiful part about the Euros, as least for us shut-ins on the Best Coast, is that you can start a sports-watching day right when you wake up. There’s always going to be something on. Starting at 8:45am, there are games every two hours right through until 5:00pm. Then the Copa starts. Given the lovely Juneuary weather,
there’s absolutely no incentive to go out & do anything of substance.
Hopefully there aren’t more emergency stoppages in the matches; the one this morning was quite enough, thank you. A few people in the morning thread talked about Hank Gathers flashbacks. I remember watching Clint Malarchuk almost bleed to death. Seeing something like that sticks with you.

I made yeah right’s chef series’ James Beard’s 40 cloves and chicken tonight. As the mrs stayed home for much of the pandemic (and my work obligations simultaneously increased), she’s hands down passed me in every cooking department — from grilling to baking and now making breads/pizzas and all around being more capable in the kitchen (while, again, my lack of efforts has atrophied my already-limited skills) — but that recipe is still a consistent winner around here. Not sure it’ll be coming out until the weather gets away from the 111 range again but it’s always nice to remember that I can contribute around here occasionally. And, for that, I owe it all to Sill Bimmons for making DFO the place it is.

My friend got a bulldog pup back in the late fall, he’s up to 25 lbs by now and he’s super tall and athletic for a bulldog. All white except his stubby little tail is grey, so cute!
I had a friend with one. He was the fartiest dog ever. He always looked surprised when he farted, it was really funny.

Pug! If you’ve never seen it, there is a cartoon called Mighty Mike that is really good. Mike is a pug who takes his job protecting the house very seriously. It’s really good, we watch it all the time.

He is! He has to defend the house, and a really dumb but cute kitten, from two raccoons who are up to no good! There are three turtles who help him, and a glamorous girl dog who lives next door that Mike is madly in love with. It is really funny, and very well done. Kids like it, but I think grownups get the nuances. It’s like Bullwinkle in that respect.

My dog Bear was a lab/pointer mix. We called him an American Good Dog. This is him with his girlfriend Mazzy the golden retriever, who was my neighbor’s dog in Birmingham. She stayed with us while they were vacationing. I had just gone to the pet store, and they weren’t allowed in the kitchen until I put everything away. The cat, B-2, did not get the memo.

Let’s call in. Called in got an answer placed our order for pick up. They didn’t answer the phone with the name of the restaurant we ordered from. Whatever.
I drive down, park and walk to the place and the fucking door is locked. Huh? I call and they answer but definitely not the name of the restaurant online. Dude says they moved around the corner to 6th street.
Cool.
I get there and the names not even close to our original location.
I go inside, they have our order and that’s great. While waiting to get my food I looked around and thought hey this is where Papadakis used to be. For you sports talk radio guys, yes this was Petro’s dad’s joint.
While looking at the menu while waiting I saw they offered pizza and stuff. Nice. Filed away for future reference.
The gyros and hummus were delicious.
After eating I wondered what the fuck was that place? Do more research and find the restaurant and it’s a fancy 7 course Italian joint. Not one single item we ordered was on their menu.

Looked again and their online menu did not have the same menu items as their physical menu that I just fucking looked at.
