Time for Random Thoughts with BFC

Remember that old SNL sketch “Fecal Matter with your Host, Doug Fecal”? No? Yeah I figured it was just me. It was a solid (heh) talk show format with a specialized host and topic. Well, we ain’t exactly doing Pod Flies Open around here, but what about in written form, maybe say like a mix between Doug Fecal, Jack Handey, Balls’ 25 questions, Rev’s take on Larry King, and I don’t know, my own fucked up mind? With that backdrop I present to you the first edition of a potentially recurring irregularly scheduled Random Thoughts with BFC!

• It is now three (3) days after the Fourth of July, and fireworks just keep going off in my neighborhood. I guess I should just be happy no one JPP’d themselves.
• It REALLY should have been a bigger story that Clarence Thomas worked into his Dobbs concurring opinion that there were aborted fetuses in the covid vaccine (I don’t care how Snopes parsed this, Thomas knew what he was doing in his framing and that was horseshit). And yeah, it’s not as bad as him explicitly saying he’s coming for Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergfell next, but still, fuck that guy and his fascist colleagues.
• Similarly, why aren’t people constantly screaming about the fact this Supreme Court has three (3) justices who worked for the Bush legal team during Bush v Gore? Yeah, Roberts, Coney Barrett, and Kavanagh all were political tools who should never been allowed to be on the Court. It should have been even more damning that Kavanagh was the most insane and aggressive one on Kenneth Starr’s team during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, but hey, the so-called liberal media has always been able to whitewash the real concerns of illegitimacy to not upset the right by appearing biased.
• This song has been in my head a LOT since we’ve all had to pay more attention to the Supreme Court than should ever be necessary:

• It was super weird playing baseball with a bunch of other adults who love baseball and then not actually watching MLB games anymore. How did the Cubs do last night? I have no fucking idea unless last night I happened to take a hot tub time machine back to 2016 or the early ‘aughts when I paid attention to every game.  My own season is over now–due to playoff loss and not my stupid fucking calf muscle, thank you very much. The Cubs’ season isn’t technically over, but 12 games back of the Brewers and 9 games back from the Wild Card….it’s pretty much over.
• Speaking of my injury/stupidity, I tried with the crutches, I really did. But two days of that shit and I found one of those knee scooters on Craigslist. I ain’t no chump. And I sweat enough as is without adding underpit sticks that require 20x the effort to walk a block.
• I really wish Roger Ailes and the Murdoch family had all died of SIDS.
• I’ve been reading a lot more lately but it’s been so inconsistent that I’m having that issue where the book is often due back to the digital library before I finish reading it, and someone else is waiting so I have to request it again on a wait-list to finish it. And that’s why as much as I love libby and libraries generally, I usually try to buy books.
• If you’re going to follow a bookstore on Twitter, that bookstore should probably be Capitol Hill Books

• You may or may not know that [DFO] gets targeted by bots and hackers just like a lot of other sites. Just finished a little spring cleaning and if I rejected your real attempt to be a commentist among the Russian bots and email addresses from racist urls while I denied literally hundreds of attempts, drop a note to [email protected] so I can correct the error and you can bless us with new dick jokes.
• Did anybody REALLY need to talk about Kevin?
• Netflix and Disney+ both have the same business model to me right now. You don’t REALLY need it every month but are you actually going to cancel it before the next [insert popular thing] comes out? Yes, we watched every episode of Stranger Things. And now I probably won’t watch Netflix again for like three weeks or something. But I still don’t cancel. And that’s how they getcha (and/or I’m just an idiot).
• Did you know the NFL was skipping the supplemental draft for the third straight year? I didn’t even know they skipped it the previous two years. Looks like Jalen Thompson is the last guy to get picked in a supplemental draft. Not exactly a Who’s Who club on that list.
• Being an American right now means either feeling overwhelmed by and eventually inured to the fire hydrant of bad news waterboarding us, and the 4th of July shooting in Highland Park is another reminder that every time we’ve said “this time will be different,” the NRA keeps getting its way.
• Hearing some rumblings the yeahright Portuguese exodus retirement plan is drawing some heat. Hopefully they don’t scrap it entirely. My preferred post-collapse of American society daydream is to go Scotland, would probably need to be on like a grad school visa or something. If you have better ideas/connections in the UK, hit me up so I can live a dream of working at a distillery instead of continuing to live under evangelical theocratic rule.
