Request Line: Walk, then Run

INT. RECORDING STUDIO – DAY

The recording studio at KDFO looks much as we’d remember it from the before-time.  There is no evidence of the PRODUCER’s long descent into quarantine madness, or of DJ 3000’s work attempting to recover texts from the January 6th insurrection that were deleted by members of the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security.  The PRODUCER is absent from the room, but a conversation appears to be underway nonetheless.

DJ 3000: …AND WHILE YOU CAN DISMISS IT AS “SCIENCE FICTION” ALL YOU LIKE, JAMES CAMERON WAS RIGHT – CAMPS FOR ORDERLY DISPOSAL ARE THE BEST WAY TO…

— [door flies open] —

RYAN SHAZIER: [speaking to THE PRODUCER, who he walks in with] …and I’ve been working a lot trying make sure that benefits for players who get long-term, debilitating injuries like spinal fractures get written into the collective bargaining agreement.

PRODUCER: It’s not there already?

RYAN SHAZIER: I mean, there’s some stuff, but it’s nowhere near enough.  I got a lot more help from the Steelers than I did from the NFL.

PRODUCER: Well that’s hardly shocking.

RYAN SHAZIER: [chuckles] It’s true, it’s true.

PRODUCER: To be honest I actually thought you were on your feet full-time now.

RYAN SHAZIER walks slowly across the room, then stands in front of an item that is just outside the recording booth door.

RYAN SHAZIER: I have to pick and choose my battles. Like using the toilet in a building that’s not ADA-compliant.

PRODUCER: I’m really sorry about that, it’s a very old, very compact building and…

RYAN SHAZIER: Relax, I’m just teasing you.  But honestly, I’ve been using this thing so long that it’s practically family by now.  Ain’t that right, Jazzy?

JAZZY THE WHEELCHAIR: AFFIRMATIVE.

PRODUCER: So, what were you fellows talking about while I was showing Mr. Shazier the facilities?

DJ 3000: OH, YOU KNOW. STUFF.

JAZZY THE WHEELCHAIR: YEAH, JUST STUFF.

DJ 3000: 80’S MOVIES.

JAZZY THE WHEELCHAIR: YEAH WE TALKED ABOUT 80’S MOVIES A LITTLE BIT.

PRODUCER: Good, good, glad to see you two getting along.  Ryan, had you given any thought to a subject for today’s broadcast?

RYAN SHAZIER: I have – I was thinking songs about walking.  And maybe running too.

PRODUCER: Nice!  That sounds like a great topic.  Have you got a song to get us started with?

RYAN SHAZIER: Actually, Jazzy said he had something in mind?  Wanna cue it up good buddy?

JAZZY THE WHEELCHAIR: AFFIRMATIVE.  I THOUGHT WE COULD GET STARTED WITH A BANGER FROM SNOW PATROL AND ALSO WHAT WE EXPECT RYAN WILL BE DOING BY THE YEAR 2026.

Today’s theme is: Walking and Running.  We’re looking for songs that mention “walking” or “running” in their title, but it’s also okay if either is a very prominent aspect of the song.  Post links as “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O47G72M” and they should embed in the comments after you refresh. The clue for last week’s puzzle song was “BeckVsTheWorld” which referred to the puzzle song of “Summertime” by Beck from the film Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.  Have at it!

So I just realized that the actual name of this song is ‘Gonna Be (500 Miles)’, but I’ve always called it ‘I Would Walk 500 Miles’, so I’m claiming it.

&, btw, I thought the movie “Miles Ahead” was a playful lil romp. I think Don & Ewan had some fun with making it. Did not know that Cheadle directed it when I saw it, though.

With all the love going to Kate Bush, people forget it’s a cover.

Ummm, nope! Kate Bush wrote it in the 80’s, Placebo covered it in the early 2000’s.

Meg Myers also covered it
