Why care. Nothing is permanent. Emotional attachments create longing and melancholy or even worse—sadness, a dull and dreadful bidness that has the power to transform persons into organisms who change underwear weekly.

And this is what the NFL wants: to turn fans into grieving runts each offseason. Missing the NFL plays right into the commissioner’s nefarious hands. Or not. I’m not worked up about it.

Everyone revels in nostalgia, but that is treacly emotional meth that distracts us from our daily trivialities. But we relive our Ws, I guess. Examine your surroundings. Take your time. See? There is an enormous amount of mundane crap that you could acknowledge. If one feels like it.

No too high highs and not too low lows–but what about neither? No high or lows, period, just a steady stream of equanimity. Examples:

Conquering our own emotions is the principal order in all milieus—school, work, sex swings… But if you are never that into any of it, you eliminate all meddling emotions.
