Notes and Comments
Look at Rikki’s Bombers up in third place and beating the Giants! Are they for real or are they setting RTD up for a classic Raiders-esque collapse? Alls I know is that Essendon Bombers bandannas are available for sale online…
It looks like the best team in the competition just might be the Sydney Swans. They won again in convincing fashion by thoroughly thrashing Fremantle in Perth, which is not an easy thing to do.
That’s two ties already this year as the Crows and Lions couldn’t settle things in Adelaide. I really hope no one gets the idea of pushing to use overtime in AFL. Since there are four points awarded for a win, the two points for a tie is significant enough that it makes sense to keep it.
You can tell there is a significant drop in quality at the bottom of the ladder when you see some of the blowouts that have taken place. Clearly, North Melbourne, West Coast, and Richmond are not on the same level as Gold Coast, Collingwood, and Western and they are mid-ladder teams!
Great job to Dolph Ucker for getting an amazing 8 correct picks this week! He also picked the winning margin correctly in the Carlton-Melbourne game! That’s really close to a perfect week.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website.
Don’t forget to put the Footy Tips in!
See you next week!
BONESAWS FOR ALL
/doesn’t really pay attention
There’s no other way to get points, right? Seems like it would make just as much sense to count a win as 2 and a tie as 1. But I suppose point inflation has been a thing since the Atari 2600.
but what about away points?
Leaves it open for creative bonus points I guess, like maybe you get a bonus point if you score over 120, win or lose, or you get a point if you lose by exactly 1
The Joys of Aging:
The Shield confirms what we always suspected about Vertically Enhanced Persons v. Black Panthers – schiesse porn.
Another frustrating year for Freo. They get in the top 8, start to look like they may be for real and then score 39 points.
At home.
I was born to root for this team.
Does the AFL have a team with a rep and love or hate following like the Yankees or Cowboys?
That would probably be the Melbourne Demons. I was told not to hop on their bandwagon when we first started doing this.
Can confirm.
Here are some comparisons:
Raiders = Collingwood
Steelers = Geelong
Jaguars = Gold Coast
Patriots = Richmond
Jets = North Melbourne
I dunno, man, the Bombers penultimate game last season when they were on the playoff bubble was awfully Raideresque.
but can they do it drunk?

Interesting coincidence that the video is 4 minutes and 20 seconds long…OR IS IT?
(a coincidence, I mean. The video is definitely 4:20)
I didn’t even notice that, that makes it funnier
It is amazing to me that a working model like this even exists. From the design, the fabrication, the packaging, the extremely limited market; it just shouldn’t be, yet it is.
Can’t wait to need 27 different streaming services to watch games

Are you shitting me? I thought they would have learned their lesson with that Paramount + bullshit last year. I don’t have Netflix. No Christmas for me! Thanks Scrooge Goodell, eat a bag of diseased dicks.
Oh, that reminds me, we’ve got a free trial of Paramount+ going on right now. I need to watch some Beavis & Butt-Head.
You don’t get enough of that on C-SPAN?
Looking more and more likely that I’m gonna pony up for NFL+ again this year, seems to be the only workaround for this crap

Draws, the AFL can have a draw? WTF
Yes, Mr. McNabb.
Essendon looked for real. Stringer was fantastic. Our midfield was shit, Toby was MIA, but it may not have mattered with how well non Essington was playing.
