Evening all, glad to be back from vacation and although we had a great time (the wife was ill through most of it) and it was nice to get away. The reason to go all the way across the country was for the spring releases of my wife’s favorite wines, or at least some of them. Beautiful vineyards, really excellent food, and relaxing surrounds is why I like going with her to all these different wineries. I found the most amazing weed store in Yakima although the town is a bit scary in places. Walla Walla, as usual kinda feels like coming home. We like it there, we can relax there, just really wonderful “vibe” as those darn kids say today. For those who care, we went to Slight of Hand (one of my favs for the staff and the music library), Saviah wineries, Reynvaan, Leonetti, and Result of a Crush. Another wine club joined, more cases sent home. Joy.
Really good food in Walla Walla as well, from steaks to Italian, Indian, and Thai. Visited Hot Poop, the music store and picked up some more vinyl for my collection. But the place I love to visit is the used book store Earthlight books, a labyrinth of book shelves crammed to the max, actual piles of books on the floor to sort through, boxes stacked everywhere, and that dry but musty smell of old books. I could stay there for days looking though everything, but this time something new was introduced – a lot of sadness. I saw so many books I read as kid and actually bought a 1943 paperback edition of “Spacehounds of IPC” by E.E. Doc Smith who was still writing under his name Edward E. Smith. This was the book that introduced me to SF and then to the Lensmen series, then to Clark, Asimov, and Heinlein and the rest of the old crew. But seeing so many of those books that I have read, the stories that I re-read again and again will basically disappear. Earthlight is run by an older gentleman who probably has no one to take over the shop, so we lose another used book store, another chance for someone to find stories that may seem a little out of date, but is a fantastic read. Not sure why I was thinking about that, but it certainly has introduced a bit of melancholy every time I pick up one of my purchases.
Anyway to cheer you up, pics of rabbits:
I am pretty sure there is NHL action of some sort or other tonight, plus at least one baseball game.
Please discuss below how the wind blowing at 15mph from the NE affects the Leafs play for the rest of their series (please limit each response to 10k characters)

Angels scored 6 in the 9th to beat the Padres (not Rocking); maybe this is the start to World Series Inevitability! Maybe!
My co-worker next to me tonight informed me she is going to her step-dad’s 50th surprise party this weekend, and that just made feel that much ancient.
giving her a piece of flare for the followup key party,BRING SOME AMBROSIA
I need to not read any more of the coverage in the Hockey Canada trial
Yeah, I noped the fuck out of that after day 1
Carter Hart and Adam Foote’s (seen below in his fightin’ days) son are defendants.
Vince Vaughn plays an Italian guy in Nonna’s.
Next up, JJFozz to star in Michael Jordan biopic.
Co-starring Peter Dinkledge as Scottie Pippen!
Seems easy enough for Vince, just get some grease on the shirt and grunt monosyllabically.
I’m going to Houston, TX on Wednesday. I’ve never looked on a map where Houston is before and now, by that simple exercise, I can triangulate that this will suck.
It’s not a super long drive to Galveston, you should go there instead
Nope. No way. No fucking way.
@Brick and @DJTAJ,
Are you guys available this weekend for an early lunch/late breakfast/strategy session for our upcoming project?
How much prep do you need for installing toiletcams in ballet schools?
I finished the main part of my foot surgery post-op on Friday and I might be mobile again by then! I’ll know by Wednesday. Any chance we can meet in Playa del Rey? There’s some good meeting places here, and that would help me a lot. But I would love to meet up!
Playa Del Rey works for me!
Since I work with idiots I am forced to work this Saturday. Sunday? Hell yes I am in, and I’ll meet you guys in Playa.
I’ll be good Sunday around noon
Ciao Tutti
https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/pistachio-pudding-dessert/
This looks about right for the dessert my mom would make when I was much younger, fatter, and even more socially awkward. This recipe calls for sour cream, but I don’t think this needs it. I’d move that to the “optional” section.
Otherwise, yeah, if yinz can, try this. If you don’t think it’s amazing, I’ll refund you in DFO Dollars.
I remember having that pistachio instant pudding as a kid. It was good, I should pick some up next time I’m grocery shopping. I can have some hamburger helper beef stroganoff and the pudding for dessert and pretend I’m 8 again
Elaborate Pastry

Well yeah.
Otherwise it’d just be randomly in the ground. THEN you’d have something to talk about!
Now that was a proper fight!
Way to go Capitals. you stupid fucks.

Great bunner pics, A&H! Love the 1st one where he’s peeping out of the sunroof.
I feel more melancholic about things & times past lately as well…
Gettin’ old. Woo.
Damnit the Hurricanes about to go up 3-1 in the series
Counterpoint: Tom Wilson down 1-3 in the series.
You make an excellent point.
Tom & Jerry Dessert Cocktail
Schwabl’s Restaurant
West Seneca, NY
https://ibb.co/99r6YZyK
That was on the shortlist to make this winter and it never happened. I’ll have to do it this fall/winter.
They’re good! I’m reading the recipe and it’s pretty decadent.
You should make one for your cocktail post.
Schwabl’s only serves them Columbus Day to St Patrick’s Day.
So here’s what happened.
I didn’t call my mom for a week. Well, I called her, she never answers her phone.
I come into the house and go to give her a hug, and she gives me the “You’re dead to me” Italian mom stare.
So I give her a kiss anyway.
And say, “Well you’re shrinking but your nose is still huge.”
Composing this from your hospital bed?
Posting from the afterlife.
Did anyone take egg creams? For if not, more for me.
Hats off to Horatio for today’s excellent topic. I’m still thinking of desserts.
Next pick:
Beignets
Elite undrafted free agent signing
So good, I actually found some old pictures of beignets I ate years ago. I have really been slacking off on taking pictures of my food recently
Haven’t been to Washington State yet, but weekends in wine country are great.
Bunnies! I love a crusty old bookstore, it is a damn shame they aren’t valued like they should be.
yeah last one I had been in one had a whole section for old national geographics and me and the missus bought the editions from our birth months.
I’m still on the dessert vibe.
How about some Randy’s Donuts!

Australia is reforming their healthcare system
If the goal is to deliver good healthcare to the citizenry, seems like a common sense approach.
Hot Poop is a great name for…. anything.
A German Ska band,
Murrika’s international reputation (deserved)
not as an entry for desert draft this morning
There are TWO GIRLS out there who disagree smgdh
dallas wins the nba draft lottery? after winning the wnba lottery? after dumping luka?
the sports horseshoe that’s been shoved up the ass of the city of dallas recently since just before and after dumping luka…
these things tend to even themselves out, so i fucking swear if anything happens to paige bueckers (again)
tho i suppose theres still time for nico to trade the pick
My understanding is they’re trading the #1 pick to the Lakers for Bronny James.
Lakers getting Giannis, he wants out of Milwaukee.
Could probably trade them some fine cheese and a white guy like Knecht.
As long as it doesn’t affect the Cowfellows, we want them as hapless as ever when the season rolls around
Twas no ordinary bunnies!! Great engineering work too, Bunny Dad.
My impression of WA state was that it was OR’s redneck cousin. But I also didn’t spend any time in the Cascades.
Actually, maybe in Yakima or Cle Elum but WW has a private college plus a campus of Washington state, so is a bit more genteel.
I think they’re both the redneck cousin, if anything Oregon is worse; As far as I know Washington never had a law requiring that black people be whipped until they left town
Yeah, Oregon was messed up
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_black_exclusion_laws
yeah, oh-RAY-gawne has some rather…unfortunate history. But by the time I visited, it seemed KEWL.
Whatever.
