Notes and Comments
The Cats are reeling, having lost three straight, this time at the hands of the suddenly resurgent GWS Giants. They are down to 9th and need to turn this around quickly.
Fremantle, on the other hand, reminded everyone that they are still the team to beat. Their fourth quarter against Sydney was magical. I started watching during the third quarter and they were behind. Well, they flicked a switch and demolished the Swans. It was a thing of beauty.
I’m not sure which was the biggest blowout: Hawks over Carlton or Brisbane over Essendon. The Hawks held Carlton under 40 points for the entire game! That’s not easy to do. Then Brisbane beat the Bombers by a mere 90 points. Damn Gina!
Don’t look now, but Collingwood is getting better every week. They played really well down the stretch in beating North. Experience in tight games will be important come finals time.
Essendon cannot wait until the season is over. Next week, they get the pleasure of being demolished by the Giants, who are now almost in finals places after a horrible start to the year.
Finally, everyone did really well in the Tipping Pool with almost all 8s and Litre with the perfect 9! Don’t forget to put the tips in!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
See you next week!
