I am writing this only two hours before post time which I should be commended for. That’s improvement, people!
The reason I wanted to include the Spain preview in tonight’s Open Thread is because:
- It helps with the word count.
- I don’t know much about the Spanish Women’s National Team.
- The Women’s World Cup is starting soon and I thought I would use this as a reminder for those if you that volunteered to write previews!
As I said, I know very little about the Spanish National Women’s Team except that their best player is Alexia Putellas, the captain of the Barcelona women’s team that has won two of the last three Women’s Champions League titles while going two straight years without losing a Spanish League game. They have only lost two games in all competitions in the last FOUR YEARS!
I am betting that this success translates over to the National team. Besides Alexia, the team also features Jennifer Hermoso, the leading scorer in Spanish National Team history and a former teammate of Alexia at Barcelona. She currently plays in the Mexican league for Pachuca.
I’m seriously considering Spain as a contender this year. I don’t think the US will win and Spain is just as good as any other team out there.

Liga MX continues the Apertura season today with América hosting Puebla and Tigres hosting León, both on TUDN.

Another reminder: DFOCon in Vegas is ON for this November. The preliminary details are first weekend in November, staying in Downtown, and good times to be had. Look for the dorks with lanyards featuring your favourite DFO usernames!
Enjoy your Saturday night!
