What’s Up? Not Much. Your Thursday Night Open Thread

T’is planting season up here and my wifey is going full bore. And as happens every year at this time, I re-learn all the names of the flowers that I’d forgotten last year and the year before that. So far the stars of the early season are some yellow begonias that are so vividly-colored that they don’t seem to be real. Most of the flowers are placed on our front porch and our deck that looks over the lake-really brightens up the place but one must get it done before the skitters and black flies manifest themselves.

Let’s take a look around, shall we?

Still Seeing Stars: That would be Toronto goalie Anthony Stolarz. This affects the Leafs quite a bit, given that they’ve lost three in a row now. [giggles uncontrollably]

You Poor Bastards: The Browns seem to be in a dicey situation with their QB room, perhaps their RB’s and their overall outlook as well. And then the schedule came out. They start out with the Bengals, Ravens, Packers, Lions and Vikes and that looks like a 1-5 or 0-6 start to most folks. So no matter who wins the spot behind center there will be the usual clamouring for a change. The year is going to be a horrible shit show.

Tomlin Luck is Best Luck: There’s some uncertainty in Pittsburgh as well (though not nearly as much) and what do they get out of the gate while they try to work out some issues? They get the Jets, Seahawks, Pats, Vikings, a bye and then the Browns. This looks a lot like a 4-1 or 5-0 start.

Betting on More Tread on the Tires: The Ravens have extended King Henry two more years with one year still left on his contract. So what that essentially means is they want him for his 31 and 32 year seasons and no one will blame them. This guy has defied expectations through the years and is now the 4th-most expensive RB in the league behind Saquon, McCafferty and Jonathan Taylor.
