Whelp it looks like the far future is already here!  Hi there!  Hot enough for you?  Whoa whoa, just joking, trying to break the ice you know, wait, wait, that was not intentional!  Bare bones tonight as let’s have a free form discussion below about how beautiful and peaceful the world is at the moment and who we can thank for such a happy state of affairs.  I will be working on designing my wife’s fallout (I mean wine cellar) space or finally watching the rest of MobLand now that I know there will be a season 2.

Randomness(?):

I will be headed to San Diego at the end of this week for some toodoo of my wife’s profession (health law).  So, I am looking forward to legal weed, suggestions for best weedery?  Is the GasLamp area still safe or zombie infested?  Going to try and hit a Padres game if they are in town, but I doubt it (they aren’t) so what would be the best day to go to the Zoo?  I have never been and would love to go.

F’ the word count, this was carpentered like a NK peasant housing block, so who cares how many words are in it?

-It’s 21C (70F) right now

-It’s 28C (82.4F) in the house

-I finally fell asleep around 1am

-At 2:11 one of the drivers called me because he didn’t have keys to get into the yard

-I met him at 3

Yes that’s common, redleg for general reference. Some units use specific callsigns. Our artillery battalion here uses “King 6” (CO’s callsign) due to the FA being referred to as the King of battle. But it’s given that redleg is the artillery.

My weather app told me it got to 97 today, but that it felt like 109.

I went to the San Diego Zoo in 1998, taking my 3-4 month old son down from LA, because I was willing to make that round trip to get out of my in-law’s house, and because I wanted to see pandas.

The panda exhibit was swarmed and my son slept through the entire zoo trip.

…I actually do think that Game 2 of the Season F World Series was last Tuesday so not even a week off for New Orleans (defending champs).

Meanwhile, my last regular season game was early May, even though I played three exhibition games against the expansion team.

He’s got a decent shot at MVP this year, because no matter how well Judge does, if the Yankees continue their current trend of “playing like shit” and “not scoring any runs” and “losing 6-1 to the Reds!? All the MSNBC Middle East folk (I actually turned my teevee on today!) seemed to think the Ayatollah’s regime is in pretty weak shape, and that the “return strikes” were tepid/meant to de-escalate. My old man gut says Trump is going to luck out here, I 90-95% think that the shooting is done for the near-medium term.

Of course the return strikes were meant to de-escalate, just like when Iran gave Israel 24 hours notice and told them exactly what they were going to do when they launched a bunch of missiles a few months ago. As scary as it is, they’re the adults in the room right now. There’s no nuclear deal beyond “assurances” so there’s no reason for Israel to de-escalate for any length of time, they just want to restock their interceptors and then they’ll break the ceasefire just like they’ve done with Gaza

La Jolla is a great place to wander around for an afternoon/evening. There is (or was when I went, maybe 20 years ago) a super cool, vintage rock photo store (Morrison Hotel?) that I could have spent hours in.

There was one really incredible, B/W picture of Hendrix with his arms spread out like Christ on the cross. I didn’t buy it, though. Because me.

One night, my then-wife’s work dinner was for doctors and drug company personnel only, so I pretended to be a doctor the entire 3 hours. And I am reasonably sure that I pulled it off.

The Zoo is wonderful, and if you can avoid the weekend, it’s probably better. But it’s worth the trip regardless.
