TGIF! Mail-It-In-Friday is almost over. Make sure to get your picks in on time.
Word Count Filler Time
Let’s talk about toilet humoUr. Okay, not really funny, but let’s revisit the aesthetics of a proper 70’s bathroom.
Rubber Ducky
Sesame Street debuted their Rubber Ducky by Bert and Ernie in 1970. A veritable cottage industry of yellow rubber duckies broke out and they could be found in most bathtubs in the 70s.
Aqua Velva
Due to persuasive advertising Aqua Velva became the go-to after shave brand and could be found in any bachelor or married man’s bathroom.
No More Tears
Back in the day, shampoo would run into your eyes while showering and cause eye irritation. Johnson “No More Tears” Shampoo showed there was a better way. Although it was first released in 1954, it wasn’t until the 70s that is became the best selling shampoo.
Earth Tones
No doubt you’ve seen the horror show that comprises the coloUr palette of a 70s bathroom. This included the bright and loud choices of “Avocado Green”, Harvest Gold, and Chocolate. And, of course, they were all combined to create a truly garish scene.
Non-Slip Bath Decals
Those old porcelain tubs were slippery, especially when wet. To combat that, folks in the 70s would put n0n-slip decals in the bathtub. Also, flower shaped as the last vestige of 60s Flower Power.
Seat Covers
The 70s saw home owners trying to spruce up their bathrooms by putting covers on their toilet seats. Fuzzy toilet seat covers. The primary issue there was the lid wouldn’t stay open when the men of the house were peeing. This also encouraged some deranged lunatics to carpet their bathrooms to match.
There are some other things, but this is Mail-It-In-Friday™️.
