Hollow Knight spoilers! (The former Senorita Weaselo did not get to that ending because the game is really, REALLY HARD. Like, Metroidvania but make it a platforming hell Souls-like. I will get it on Steam at some point, if/when I get a controller.)

At this point, the Falklands Clasico has been decided and we have our finalists for Sunday at MetLife (and the other two for Saturday in Miami). Which means we have absolutely fuck-all tonight. You’ve got… the ESPYs. Yeah, no. Hard no.

They do it after the All-Star Game because that’ll make you want to watch the ESPYs! (There is probably nothing that will make me want to watch the ESPYs. At best it would be on and I’d be too lazy to not change the channel.) But just think of it this way, after this week where the Mundial finishes it’s only 18 days until the Hall of Fame Game!

In other news, this is the “extolling Dakota Story’s virtues” open thread. Earlier this morning, Story threw his league-record 3rd complete game of the season, his league-record 3rd career shutout, and his league-record 5th complete game, as the Nocturnes clinched a playoff spot to defend their title thanks to an 11-0 win. He becomes the first (and currently only) pitcher with back-to-back 70+ inning seasons and because of a shitty middle of the season where he couldn’t keep the ball in the yard, is iffy on whether he makes the All-Star team. (Nocturnes #2 starter Claude Sellers may start in the All-Star Game for the West depending on how his last start goes. He is currently 2nd in the league in ERA, nearly a full run better in the division than Anchorage’s Mako Tate.)

More Nocturnes Magazine when the regular season finishes in a couple of weeks! As for now, VOIIIIIIIIIIIID.

Just had a “pizza delivery” call.

I don’t know what had already happened before the call. It took me a moment to figure things out, but police were dispatched within 60 seconds of the call.
It still took them six minutes to get there.
That was an incredibly long six minutes (insert TWSS joke here).
She said she’s a minor. I can’t verify that, but she was definitely being held against her will. He likely had bad plans.
I hope and pray she’s okay. I sincerely hope they catch this waste of oxygen.

This was my evening drive. The wife and blaxito went out ahead of me to the hale. I’m still Doing Work and closing up the house. Trash comes tomorrow so I’m grinding to do most of my cleaning tonight. I’ve been listening to some UA basketball podcasts and, to be transparent, this team better win the Monster 12 next season. Tonight at dinner I saw MLB Network was showing some other ASG — the Baseball Association of America League? It looked like a cheap Newsmax broadcast but, when you think about it, that’s a lot of the baseball content below the professionals. Finally, I appreciated the end of The Dark Tower. I’d have probably never finished something that started off so hot after losing my addition spark/muse. And the pointed evaluation — would you rather have the full work or none of it, in hindsight? Full work, i would vote every single time. I mean, if you sit for a regional NFL game broadcast on a typical Sunday, the proportionality of excitement/thinking parts in The Dark Tower series versus what the NFL delivers over 3h12m isn’t even close.
Also, this is the first time in years I’ve not been able to fall back on, “just grab a Roland number” for my book on trips. I’ll take any reading recommendations now. Something to make me feel smart.
Now I’m tired. I had a couple drinks at dinner (because MAGA/Israel ASG Game was on, you’ll recall).

Also, a girl at Trader Joe’s had a tee shirt and on the back was the Scott’s Tots chant. I rarely (if ever) am touched by a shirt. That one made my day.

We go in the mornings. I prefer to be back by 7a. 8a at the latest. Plus I gotta deal with (ie jayealk) a drag strip of roadway near my house that is much more navigable with two dogs and an 8year old before rush hour.

Thats right. I call Litre’s educating his son in a pub and raise him running your kid across rush hour traffic with a designated “suicide lane” to start every morning (well, five days a week).
