Forgive my absence. I am drunk and at a hockey game. I realize they aren’t mutually exclusive activities, but I have made them so.

It’s a junior game, so sometimes peer pressure from the families makes you stop. NOT ME!
I grew watching the Gatineau Olympiques play at Arena Robert-Guertin, which is the most rinky-dink, asbestos-riddled hunk of shit of a rink there ever was. But my god, does it ooze character. Still love going to games there from time to time.
My favourite reoccurring story is getting tickets in the visitor’s net end sitting behind these four women – daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, between about 25 and 85. They’re all absolutely fucking toasted, with about 10 teeth and 5 brain cells between the 4 of them. The ferocity of seeing these women talking shit at the refs and opposing goalie – “pourri, pourri, hosties, calices, hosties des pourri du calices du tabernak”, etc. etc. made me grow up pretty fucking quick.
Junior hockey is a magical, magical experience.
That’s why I will keep going until they move the team or shutter the franchise.
