In case you want a very brief respite from basketball (for fuck’s sake, don’t do anything insane like go outside or talk to your family), rejoice. The FA Cup interruptions are over until late April (Everton to Wembley WOO!!!), and there’s a full slate of matches this weekend.
Speaking of Everton, the Blues square off against Arsenal in the early bird special (8:45, NBCSN). The Gunners are in 3rd place with a game in hand…but 6 points back of Spurs and a full 11 behind Foxy Footy. They need all 3 points from their trip to Goodison Park, or it’s down to a 2-team race for the title. Despite the Cup success, Everton continue to be more than a bit shit in the League, and need a statement win to salvage some self-respect and at least move into the top half of the table.
Leicester get reeling, 15th place Palace (also in the Cup semis) in the main 11:00 fixture (NBCSN), as they look to at least maintain their working margin. 5th place West Ham and 10th place Chelski are USA’s alternative, if so inclined to flip around.
NBCSN is starting the “hey, come look at the gruesome car wreckage!!” coverage early this year, featuring Sunderland/Newcastle in a Sunday relegation scrap (9:30), ahead of the fairly decent Soton/Shite match, which is relegated to Extra Time. That’s the lead-in to noon’s Manchester Derby, 4th place City and 6th place Manure (big boy NBC). Should United get all 3 points, they would have an outside shot at the final Champions League slot again. 2nd place Tottenham also plays at noon Sunday, on Extra Time against Bournemouth.
P.S. Don’t forget to read Balls’ super-early morning open letter re La Liga:

FOXY FOOTY HOLD ON WOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I don’t have a team (in any league for that matter), so woo!
Lots of pressure from Palace here.
Wichita State down double digits early.
Currently, the 3 sides that advanced to the FA Cup semis (Manure and West Ham are going to a replay) are getting twatted by a combined score of 5-nil.
Twatted is a wonderful word.

Goal to the Foxes!!!!!!
As a joke on facebook (it is the easiest way to maintain minimum contact with my family)…I posted an update last night, pissed that UConn lost, as otherwise, my bracket would have been perfect.
Apparently I know a lot of stupid people….as I am getting requests for lottery numbers and shit like that.
It’s like you’re a fucking wizard.
Wooo football!
Also apologies for this being off-topic, but this just made my weekend. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/19/business/media/gawker-hulk-hogan-verdict.html?_r=0
I have mixed feelings about this.
The difference between TMZ and Gawker is that Harvey Levin used to be a lawyer and knows how to toe the line. Gawker doesn’t care.

I swear Gawker did themselves no favors with how Denton and Daulerio testified in court.
Well I see my long-time* favorite team Arsenal team is doing well this morning.
Did anyone check on WCS last night after West Virginia lost while destroying what was left of my bracket?
*lomg-term means I picked them at the beginning of this season when Hippo started this.
That probably puts you one up on me; I started rooting for Arsenal ten years ago because I liked the name and my friend Bobby was a fan; I do not believe I have watched them play since Thierry Henry was on the team.
I found out later that Kroenke owns the team. I’m rethinking my allegiances for next year.
Bournemouth!
Roberto Martinez OUT. Blech.
It made me very happy. And gave me hope he will stay until the likes of Bacra/Real come calling, rather than hop to a mid-range CL contender. He is a smart dude, he can see the big picture.
Did you hear his interview with Rog from Men in Blazers? He seems like a driven dude and standup guy. Hopefully Everton team success makes Lukaku want to remain there. I’d be sad if he were to leave for an XBox all-star team like Real Madrid. Then again, I’d rather be a head of a mouse than an elephant’s tail.
(It’s an idiom in Spanish translated literally, not a weird and corny observation. Maybe.)
That’s a nice morning doubleheader today. That first Lukaku goal from last Saturday is still etched on my brain.
