I had been sitting on a broken chair for 3 years. The springs were gone and I had just jammed a pillow in there to make it usable. I got a new (well used still but actually in like new condition and 100 times better) chair today and it is great.

Haven’t tried the splash, but regular V8 goes thru me like shit thru a goose…literally. One of the reasons, though not the biggest one, I’ve been laying off the vodka of late.
I don’t really have a favorite comic book aftist, but I admire the Hell out of Jack Kirby and Jim Steranko. They had awesome visions and excellent skill at conveying story on the page in small spaces. As for the current generation, I love Frank Quitely for, if nothing else, All-Star Superman.
Took me a long time to like Quitely’s work, as I felt everything looked like a slightly over-inflated balloon. He has a delicate line, and I can admire that, but there’s just this overstuffed quality to everything he draws that makes me a little nuts.

I should have phrased my original comment better. I’ve agreed with most of Unsurprised and your sentiments for at least 3 years now. I can’t even remember the last time I said the pledge of allegiance, and that’s mostly because of my beliefs about US action in the Middle East. He just seemed a bit abrasive toward the few people that actually did good for the country after 9/11.
There’s nothing wrong with loving your country (or any other damned thing in life). I do. I feel lucky every day to be in this country rather than having to live somewhere where I may or may not eat that day.
But I’m also not blind to our nation’s faults. Both in house and geopolitically. One can appreciate the good while still being aware of our foibles. It’s OK to do that.

Serpieri is one of my all-time fave, bro. I have a yuuuge collection of his work, including Euro editions. He is supremely skilled at the human form.
Also, Richard Corben. Corben, man, just too damn good. Best airbrush artist I’ve ever run across, highly influential, and his work likely turned me into a boob man.

Oh, yeah…Epic Illustrated ran his Cholly & Flytrap strip back in the ’80s. It was really hard to find his stuff otherwise for years.
