The Giants have issued directives to team scouts to focus on QBs in advance of the 2018 draft.

The development comes at a team when resentment of Jones has grown among owners. Many resent his use of the phrases “ranking owner” and “senior ranking owner” at last month’s league meeting, and he has created frustration and acrimony via repeated efforts to hijack discussions among owners. If he actually sues his business partners over Goodell’s contract, Jones could take on full-blown Al Davis pariah-style status.
So, it looks like it’ll be a fun Christmas card season at the owners’ meetings.

Having to bother with dealing with cleaning up the ethics of our higher education system, which most of us don’t deal with at all (or, for four years – max).

I contend a good deal of Americans don’t give a fuck about Silicon Valley or stocks.

And stocks, in this instance, I mean as the bellwether of the economy.

I also think people evaluate the state of the economy based on their personal state and that of the those around them.

I don’t know about tenure couch, but, prof/student banging at the university level is a hell of a lot more common than people think at Zero tolerance schools. I can’t even imagine what it must be like at Post secondary institutions that do not have such policies
Universities seem to fall in this pseudo government condition — like with war contractors — where you have government and non-gov employees in close quarters and you’re asking the government employees to live to a higher standard.
Consenting adults and all that, I say, but the amount of power that rests in the hands of university influencers is pretty mindboggling, considering the qualifications of many of the folks who hold these positions (ie – graduate students).
The Catholic Church is STILL paying off settlement cases over the child sex abuse.
Its the payouts that make the bean counters freak out, rightfully so.

Mentioned this a week or so ago, but the Edmund Fitzgerald , according to wikipedia, is longer than the depth of the water where it sank. I think that says more about the length of the ship than the depth of the water though.
They have also caught people trying to get to the Taconite at the site. The ship was loaded fully. That stuff ain’t cheap (used in steel production).
Its utterly amazing how polluted the Great Lakes are, both form the US and the Canadian usage. You would think more effort would be put into place to restoring the lakes, but good luck with any long term meaningful efforts.
I just mention that because I know Taconite tailings from their production are carcinogenic. I’m sure the massive amount of pellets sitting in one location can’t be good for the immediate area water quality.

That ship length:water depth ratio is not uncommon even among coastal ocean-going vessels. There’s a theory that the relative shallowness is what killed the Fitzgerald due to a large wave trough that allowed the bow or stern to hit bottom hard, and that broke its back. If it had been in deeper water it might have survived.
I would not want to take a Lake Freighter on the open ocean honestly. They are typically much more narrower and with much lower engine power than an ocean going vessel.
Lakers don’t go on the open ocean, but ships operating in coastal waters are very often longer than the water is deep. Also, the Great Lakes can get as nasty as almost any ocean; they are inland seas with less buoyant fresh water.
