That’s right, 41 year-old Josh McCown is getting the phone call he wasn’t waiting for to return to the league. The Texans have apparently signed him to be DeShaun Watson’s backup. He was staying at home but on the Eagles practice squad as an emergency “in-case” option, and earning $12,000 per week for the privilege. But the fact that Houston is apparently two hours drive from his home means he’ll get to earn a nine-week percentage of the league-minimum $1.045 million, while watching the carnage Bill O’Brien left behind plays its way out.
Besides the Eagles, he has also played for the Jets, Browns, Buccaneers, Bears, 49ers, Panthers, Dolphins, Raiders, Lions and Cardinals. The Texans are his 12th NFL team, and he has only played for two above-.500 teams in his entire career.

You can get the attachments for like 50 bucks, then when you get into $200+, you start getting heat and other functions, then $400+ has crazy shit like remotes and enemas and shit. The same companies make full bidet units, but I’m pretty sure they’re more expensive than actual bidets at that point.

Dept of health was able to reinstate a lot of it. Very little of it has been reinstated through the state legislature. Mostly things like letting politicians vote on things remotely because of course. Regardless, half the population acted like that was the end of the restrictions, but the biggest issue imo is the schools. School boards are terrified of getting yelled at, so they’re all holding off on sending the kids back home. Meanwhile, my entire department’s been quarantined after a few positive cases (mine came back negative). Some districts ended up having no choice with half their staff and students being forced into quarantines. It’s very stupid.

I don’t have time or non-stop free access (workdays are spent on DoD VPN which blocks DFO) to be able to read every comment on every thread on this board, so I do miss quite a bit (such as the drama with Brick and Beast). I tend to skim rapidly through threads whose subject matter holds minimal interest to me, but I certainly won’t bother complaining about them. I’m a relative newby and figure I’m here on sufferance and aside from an occasional drunken outburst try to maintain a non-aggro presence.

I’m never quite clear on who’s “in charge” here, so at first I wondered if Brick was a moderator and actually giving “official” advice/warning. When it became apparent that wasn’t the case, then I wondered why it was ok for Brick to act like he was in charge and telling people what to post. If I was Moose, I would have asked “who the fuck do you think you are” a long time ago.

I’m sure lots of people didn’t like, or got bored with, one or more of those things. And occasionally some of us — and I’ve done it in this thread — will comment that maybe someone should knock it off on a particular subject. But repeatedly showing up when someone posts to criticize what they post is kind of jerky behavior in my opinion.
Perhaps it’s jerky but within the rules. But with all due respect to our hard-working admin team, if the rules here allow one poster to continually poke and take shots at another’s contribution, without so much as a warning, but one insult in return is deemed a violation, then the rules are stupid.
And now it occurs to me that I don’t even know if I’m breaking a rule in this comment.
You and I got into an argument a while back but we both realized we were going too far, backed off, and apologized.
I would like to think that others could resolve differences in that way.
The corporate rules are, on purpose, not many. We don’t want a censor or monitor. We believe people are adults and can resolve their differences without supervision.

Just a simple, “hey Brick, I think Moose is aware of your feelings on the matter.” Otherwise, you end up like the parent who tells the kids to stop fighting, but then does nothing while one kid does the “I’M NOT TOUCHING YOU” while holding their finger a millimeter away from the other’s face.

Maybe if something like that had been done earlier, Moose wouldn’t have lashed out and the whole thing could have been defused a little.

One of my employees, I hear from a different one, is asking around who else is going to bail on the 401k to get gold. He’s an upper level supervisor and not a young man. Just a strong Christian who simply believe what he hears. So I approached him and was like, “I’m not telling you what to do with your money but I’m paying (technically me, as the fund won’t build up enough to cover all these costs on its own til next year) for a financial advisor with the 401k so, whatever it is that you want to do, I want to make sure you have the contact for this free resource because the paperwork to do stuff in their is a nightmare (for him) and this guy can at least walk you through this.” His honest concern is communism and the market tanking. Said he wanted to speak with an expert for advice — hope he takes it. I feel Ike he’s got an alcohol problem that he does not ever bring to work but is gonna destroy his life; though he’s well behind the 8ball already….
It was interesting to see market-watchers insisting that the Dow was going to crash if Biden was elected at the same time it continued to climb hand-in-hand with Biden’s chance of winning.

I don’t think there’s any doubt we’re headed for a recession. We’re probably overdue for one anyway. But taking all your retirement money out of a stocks and putting it into gold, which is already overpriced, is exactly the sort of dumb shit I’d expect a strong Christian who believes everything he’s told to do.
Hopefully he talks to your advisor and, depending on his age, gets out of more volatile investments and gets into more stable ones. But gold and whatever the Franklin Mint is pushing is not the answer.
Ironically, though, as people like him start transferring their assets to gold, they will bid up the price of gold, and then sneer at the rest of us and say “see? I was right! I’m so smart!”
Of course, they won’t cash out their profits, and will end up missing out on the unsexy but steady long-term rise of a normal stock portfolio.

We will keep trying to help, because the right thing to do. But people are not rational, nor do many (maybe most) vote on actual issues.
Read a story not so long ago about some guy in Tennessee dying of cancer or heart disease or something, who knowingly and willingly voted against state expansion of Medicare, which would have directly extended his life. He didn’t care, still didn’t want any gubbermint handouts.
Admittedly, that’s dedication.

Democrats have been trying to help the rural population for literally decades. Biggest advocates of universal broadband, USDA programs, rural health care centers, etc–Democrats. The culture wars and the RW news bubble’s obsession with painting liberals as”anti-american” is the problem we have to fix.
I don’t even know if you could reverse it at this point. So much of that shit was done with such little fanfare and most people who benefit from those programs couldn’t tell you they exist. Meanwhile, the GOP throws a fucking parade every time they so much as say the word “farmer”. Trump putting his signature on those stimulus checks and sending out a letter saying “THANK ME FOR GIVING YOU THIS MONEY” to everyone who got it electronically had me rolling my eyes hard enough to concuss myself, but that shit’s what they remember.

Fair point, but I think my response would be that Biden needs to expand his base to the urban/minority populations rather than try to get the white rural population. If there’s an outreach that also benefits them that’s all well and good, but I don’t want to see him waste time trying to reach racist climate deniers who just want the days when blacks and women knew their place to come back.
The problem is that the Republicans have gamed the system so that those rural votes have a huge influence on elections. Adding more votes in California is a waste of time and money.
Right, and I can’t imagine that there’s any approach the Dems could take to pick up more votes in the Dakotas, Wyoming, or other states without large urban areas that would get them more votes than they would lose from their existing base.

I think it’s got to be “horses for courses.” You’re going to have to run more Joe Manchins and Conor Lambs in the redder areas. And the centrist Dems and the progressives need to try harder to shut up about each other.
I never see purple district GOP candidates having to explain Louie Gohmert or Devin Nunes or other asshole GOPers, with rare exceptions like when Steve King did something exceptionally racist. But Dems on both wings of the party just can’t seem to resist taking the bait and bashing the other.
GOP senators just spent four years pretending they had no idea what the fucking president said the day before. Why does every Dem have to answer for whatever AOC or whoever just said? Learn from the GOP.
For me, ideally we see a third party – a progressive party – that truly represents urban interests. Democrats represent the suburbs, and the GOP continues to represent the cousinfuckers and the ultra-rich.
