NFL Noise:
- In a totally professional move completely unrelated to the team’s recent cheerleading or sexual harassment scandals, Tanya Snyder, wife of owner Dan Snyder, has been named co-CEO of the Washington Football Team.
- In her defense, she has led Washington’s philanthropic efforts since the Snyders purchased the team in 1999. That includes:
- the Washington Football Charitable Foundation,
- the “Women of Washington” (WOW) fan club, which consists of about 135,000 women and works extensively with the foundation,
- helping introduce the “Think Pink” campaign to the NFL 22 years ago.
- In her defense, she has led Washington’s philanthropic efforts since the Snyders purchased the team in 1999. That includes:
- With recent developments on the Name-Image-Likeness (NIL) front, there is a belief growing among teams that it could cut down on the number of college players declaring early draft eligibility.
- Because there won’t be the immediate need to take advantage of having a hot name.
- All forms of advertising and endorsement opportunities will be open to college athletes, from national brands to local TV commercials; from autograph sessions to paid promotions in social media posts.
- All but 10 states have at least introduced an NIL bill, and some in eight states – Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, New Mexico, Ohio and Texas – take effect July 1.
- Because there won’t be the immediate need to take advantage of having a hot name.
- Possibly in advance of that, the League has cancelled its supplemental draft for the second straight year.
- After the league cancelled last year’s supplemental draft, it informed prospective supplemental draft picks they would not gain free-agent status but could instead enter the 2021 draft.
- Making them wait nine months in order to be given their shot.
- Only one player was selected in the 2019 supplemental draft, giving the League ammunition for their stance.
- Outside of the COVID years, there was no supplemental draft in 2008 due to a lack of applicants.
- After the league cancelled last year’s supplemental draft, it informed prospective supplemental draft picks they would not gain free-agent status but could instead enter the 2021 draft.
- The Colts were the last team(?!) to gain civic approval for full capacity crowds, meaning NFL stadiums can be actual sellouts for the 2021 season.
- The NFL had approval from 30 of 32 teams prior to the start of June.
- The Broncos received their approval June 1st.

Jake’s got you tomorrow, so I’ll see you Thursday for a Canada Day history lesson.
If a Lyft driver takes three wrong turns and isn’t particularly safe in his recovery….how many stars?
Depends. How was their candy selection?
Do you want him to be fired? If no, 5. Those surveys aren’t for the benefit of customers
So i am typically the rate 5 stars tip 25% type, but yeah, i may want him off the roads.
He got you there. 5 stars
Was the apology handy satisfactory?
I ask that same question about airline pilots. How many crash landings until you complain to the home office?
Back from Adventures in ERland. Gumby has about 25-30 stitches inside and outside his lip. Horrible, nogood rotten day.
Ban showers!
Oh no! Glad it was just a matter of stitches, but that is a LOT of stitches 😯
Way more than we expected, but I only saw the outer lip, not the carnage inside. It isn’t pretty.
Glad it wasn’t worse. That’s why I don’t bathe.
The downside of teeth is when they chew you
Holy shit. Get well soon Gumby.
Glad he is okay, though. Bathrooms are dangerous
On another reminiscent note, I really wish I had kept my fake ID. I gave it to a gal who sort of resembled me when I turned 21. I originally got it at one of the string of sixth ave smoke shops that made really kinda amateurish licenses for $60, but they were laminated and had a shitty hologram!
I only ever had it turned down twice, I looked up the address on mapquest and was delighted to talk about my hometown in new Hampshire, right by the university! One of my friends got a fake on a totally different occasion but ended up with the same address, so we were totally roommates when we went out.
In college someone was showing off their Connecticut fake ID, and asked me how it looked, since that’s where I grew up. I told them they wasted their money since Connecticut was spelled wrong.
Pfft, what a Connecticuck
Unfuckingbelievable.

I was wondering why Ricky Martin had so many votes when he wasn’t even an official candidate!
For reals though, why is NYC half assing RCV? This five rounds thing is total BS, especially with 13 candidates
Sounds like a “see?? Ranked choice doesn’t work. Let’s scrap it” move.
Nah, it’s just the American way of taking things that work well, making them worse, then making the worse version dominant. It is betamax all over again.
So Yang really won?
I think I may have seen this movie starring Rod Johnson and Kandy Kane.

THIS GUY GIANNIS ANTAKEMTOSPUEO I CALL HIM NAPOLEON MCCALLUM CAUSE, UH, MY ADVICE IS TO NOT WATCH THE REPLAY.
Oh thank God. He’s walking away. It looked REALLY bad at first glance.
PSA time: Living around the central valley, summers are typically over 100 most days. But, god, in her infinite wisdom, created air conditioning on the 6th and 3 quarters day. And that is why stay indoors, except for the mornings and late nights, to avoid ball sweat as much as we can.
Ball sweat is the stanky version of boob sweat
The autocorrect on my new phone is aggressive and I don’t like it
You say “stanky”, but I think you mean musty, like a multi-month aged gallon of milk or Stetson cologne.
I move we create an “International Kick a Global Warming Denier in the Privates Very Hard Day”.
Any objections?
Are you saying this would be a free service, or do I have to at least tip the person kicking me?
Not that I deny anything, but I would if the price is right.
Let’s just be lazy and leave them out in the sun for like à month or 2 in the summer
Ah, confirmation that my Bills ticket purchase did not go through, I am now getting emails pestering me to complete my purchase. I guess I probably should, who wouldn’t want to visit the graveyard in the Bills parking lot on Halloween?
That would be an unreal experience.

Idk. I heard they banned folding tables and other nefarious things at the tailgating area that involve setting people on fire.
I was a girl scout, I am resourceful when it comes to setting people on fire
Wasn’t there a merit badge for that?
Young Dok:
It’s called a “Try-It” in girl scout speak.
Raised 2 girl scouts.
You can say this much about Dan Snyder‘s wife:
She looks like someone who would be Dan Snyder’s wife.
Just discovered that two of the mainstays of my college/first grad school life are gone. Sidebar Tavern in Baltimore successfully completed a GoFundMe at the end of 2019 due to financial difficulties but then closed for Covid and now their website and social media accounts are dark. ABC No Rio on the LES is still technically in existence, but the original building was demolished in 2016 and is currently still building the new property. Looks like they at least saved some of the better murals out back, and the old building was seriously structurally unsound, but still, everywhere is going. I feel so damn old right now.
Reading the first sentence I though you had a couple classmates die. I guess that’s a function of my advancing years.
There have been a few, not necessarily classmates. None of them were particularly surprising though, and some places you really expect to last longer than people.
I feel we lost most of the dead alumni within like 5-8 years then that was about it. Mostly fairly predictable, car crash here or there — didn’t lose like all our town’s young men at war one summer — and then that just ended. One chick has been married three time — twice to some douche and now some old guy and they have a kid.
Yeah it’s boo boo and whatever but that’s life and, overall, a net gain to be replacing structurally unsafe buildings (*hey Florida*). I’m much more excited to see urban renewal over further sprawl.
I do empathize that those places were likely homes to memories and a personal familiarity. Guess that’s the price of it.
Apparently it priced out the same to renovate as to rebuild, so I don’t blame them. Although it does seem like they demolished before having the funds to rebuild, so not quite sure what was up on that front.
Hello friends!
/ducks because DFOers might think that’s Jim Nantz
YOU ARE LOOKING LIVE AT BALLS’ LIVINGROOM
//Balls turns off webcam
///throws “gently” used Fleshlight out window
Oh, that ends up on SonOfSpam’s mantle…
I’d ask which one, but, we all know it’s both.
What the fuck, Marv Albert was supposed to have called his last game like four days ago! I feel like I’m in some variation of this thing: http://www.scpwiki.com/scp-1733
Just remembered you saying that when I turned it on.
You will be whipped and chained appropriately because you are a bad, bad boy.
Pretty handy Canadia playing the Greeks in Hoops Olympic Qualifying while the Giannis is still playing in the playoffs. (he is right?)
Shit, he is playing tonight!
This is a wonderful and depressing essay that everybody should read but then again nobody should read it because then we would all be depressed but everyone needs to read about it and acknowledge this shit is already happening.

There’s also a great link in there to a 2019 essay about selling real estate in Miami despite inevitable sea levels rising.
Nothing but uplifting shit today!
I read this a few years back, pretty eye opening.

I’m sure it’s been said in the previous thread, but I’m surprised at England being able to defeat Germany today without US assistance.
Good news: Ohtani, who might be a witch, has 2 more HRs tonight (in 3 ABs)
Bad news: Stupid Angels are losing to even stupider Yankees 10-5
Stupid Angels need the most attention!

The Yankees have scored 10 runs in a game for the first time since April.
I just tried to impulse buy a ticket to Miami @ Buffalo on Halloween, but the Stubhub website blows so hard it just pulled me out of the payment flow and back to the search screen with no explanation and no confirmation email, so if I go back and buy it now I can’t claim impulse buy anymore
