NFL Noise:
Well, His Majesty showed up for the first day of Packers camp.
- A number of concessions were made to have this happen. According to various Twitters,
- NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was at the Packers’ shareholder meeting, where he says CEO Mark Murphy “expected more boos”.
- Rapoport reports his contract is only guaranteed through 2021, with its $37 million cap hit.
- Schefter says he will get the freedom to explore trade options after the 2021 season.
- Peter King drools that Rodgers will likely end up in Denver, with the Packers getting two first-rounders & Jerry Jeudy.
- In case Davante Adams leaves.
- Florio thinks Rodgers is a bitch who caved.
- My verbiage might be harsh, but here are actual Florio quotes to defend my phrasing:
- “Make no mistake about it. Rodgers caved. Rodgers folded. Rodgers surrendered.”
- (On Schefter’s quote) “[I]t’s probably hard to get a scoop like this without first agreeing to make it look like a victory Rodgers, even if it isn’t.”
- My verbiage might be harsh, but here are actual Florio quotes to defend my phrasing:
- And ESPN reminds everyone that Rodgers avoids $50,000/day in fines for not reporting.
- Because a guy who’s made $241 million in his career is threatened by the loss of 0.0002% of his lifetime earnings.
- And the signs that the Packers are already doing the little things to keep him happy?
- The Packers released Blake Bortles.
- The Packers are looking to trade for Randall Cobb.
Other things may have happened, but this was what everyone was laser-focused on.
