Your Thursday Night NFL Football Open Thread

I’d just like to note in advance that life interrupts so others will be filling in this weekend. I have all the thank you’s for those that step in.

Welp, we’re past all the bye weeks so my first round loss in Freezer Vodka has one less excuse. Damn it!

Minutiae:

-The Chiefs will be winning their division for the 9th year in a row this year. The comparisons to the Patriots (the only team to win more consecutively) that we started noticing several years ago just keep mounting.

-How To Be Wrong On The Internet: Just follow my lead and shout from your couch, “BELICHICK WILL NEVER COACH IN COLLEGE BECAUSE HE WANTS THE ALL-TIME COACHES WIN RECORD!” It’s that easy. I still think he entered talks to see if anyone in the NFL was interested and when he got nary a nibble he found himself in a corner so here we are.

-If you’re a player in the league and want to make a kid happy, just toss the ball into the stands so he/she can catch it. Nico Collins will tell you that that gesture will only cost you $5,000. There’s a No Fun League joke sitting there but I’d prefer to go the “Mike Brown’s influence nets the league a sweet $4,850 return on a $150 investment” angle.

To The Game!

Rams/Niners:

-They Had a Good Run: San Franny had an 8% chance of making the playoffs before they beat the Bears last week. After they got the W their chances dropped to 7%. (because Seattle won)

-Not Coming to Play?: Deebo has four straight games of less than 5 fantasy points. As with most athletes these days he expressed his displeasure on the social medias before quickly deleting it. Remember the days when boneheads said, “I was hacked?”. At least we don’t have to endure that obvious bullshit any more.

-Since their bye week them Rams have won 6 of 8 and have been doing it very quietly. (seriously, who sees them as a team that might get to the NFC Champeenship?) Five of those wins have been by less than a score. To me that’s the sign of a good team getting into a groove and knowing how to finish out. Who the hell wants to play a squadoo that can outscore the Bills when they need to?
