Which is to say I was recording all afternoon, then teaching makeups (for yesterday) currently so… a bit Carpentery tonight. So; what’s the news?

FIRED: Trent Baalke is FINALLY out in Duuuuval. Why now and not two weeks ago? Good question. Why not two years ago? Better question! (Plausible reason: Bucs Liam Coen withdrew from the Jags’ coaching search this afternoon.)

HIRED: Aaron Glenn comes home to the Jets to be the new head coach. Glenn, a Jets 1st-round pick, played with the team from 1994-2001.

ALSO HIRED: THAT’S RIKKI’S RAIDERS! hire Bucs assistant John Spytek as their new GM.

REHIRED: Notre Dame DC Al Golden to the Bengals to be their DC. Golden was the linebackers coach in 2020-21.

INSPIRED: Two events into the 8-event special JMR Marble League All-Stars and your leaders are exactly who you expected them to be… the Limers. (I actually said they will either score like 10 points the whole competition or win the whole thing; there will be no in between.)

NO LONGER WIRED: Norway’s top two leagues have voted to abandon VAR, the first country to do so. The Norwegian footy association will potentially finalize this in March.

SO VERY TIRED: This bit at this point but also the Miami Heat of Jimmy Butler as they’ve suspended him another two games for I believe missing a team flight.

International footy moment: US vs. Costa Rica (7:00, TNT)

So i dunno, eight or nine maybe weeks ago I signed up for this like Dads Club fundraiser for blaxito’s school. The Mrs is on me about my not socializing part of my identity and so I was like, “hey I’ll get a foursome for the golf tournaments and surely swing a club before then.”

Didn’t happen.

Now this fucking thing goes down tomorrow and I got a million other things to do than be around a bunch of guys I’d rather, you know, not be socialized with. My brother, who golfs,is in +1 (who I hope is gonna be Larry Fitzgerald) and then I got one of my neighbors who I guess golfs but I told my brother his handicap and he said my neighbor sucks. I don’t golf. Haven’t golfed. And I think it’s a blessing that weather is unreasonably cold and so I can kinda wear sweats because I also have nothing worth golfing in my kids schools dad’s fundraiser tournament.

It’s shotgun start. I imagine all these things are best ball stuff? Really, I’m just excited to see how people around here cheat. If you want me to join “the community” I’m gonna need to know the rules on cheating so I can have a fair fight.

Well shit maybe now I’m a little excited. I do have some Hawaii balls that I picked up in Hawaii just for this occasion. It will be cold though so fuck this.

I’m confident it will be best ball, but I’m not really sure how one would cheat in that scenario, other than just blatantly lying about your score. Sometimes they have a minimum requirement for how many of each team member’s shots get used per hole/nine, but if you’re in a situation where your team sucks badly enough for that to come into play all the cheating in the world isn’t going to save you so the trick is to get blackout drunk so you can just blame the booze for your ineptitude.

Fundraisers are usually not serious except for the idiots that take them WAY too seriously.

Kaep was easy to sideline by team/league because he was put in an anti-American box. The two situations aren’t remotely the same. Butler is just another dude that wants to move on from his current team.

Hmmm — just feels like there will be some breaking point on this player holdout stuff. Good point re: patriotism. Even in the NFL, Deshaun Watson wasn’t alienated — he was thrust into the national spotlight when his own ownership went David Pecker on him to the press.
