“Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire” by Edward Gibbon, originally published 1776 to 1778. Still considered a classic, although modern historians dispute parts of it. This is the 1946 Heritage Press edition with spine art by Paul McPharlin. Brand new printings of this set (such as by Easton) go for about $900, used Heritage sets in fair condition not much cheaper.

Gibbon was a British MP during the American Revolution and predicted that the British Empire would never fall. Goes to show how much he knew.

You’ve seen this before (and it’s legit), but this is FBI Director Kash Patel’s official portrait in 2020 when he was chief of staff at the Department of Defense.

The photo was taken by an Army sergeant who obviously hated officers and civilian brass.

The packaging was a pain in the ass, and then the fucking thing sez click 5 times to turn it on, 3 to change to desired mode, 2 to preheat for 10 seconds. Bitch, I am trying to get high here!
