When does that World Cup start? My boys are out of the NHL playdowns, the NBA is barely watchable to me because I can’t relate to the state of the game any more and with work being a slog* to an anticipated end in the next little while, I don’t need another one like the interminable baseball season.
*shall I start the countdown like our good folks 2Pack and yeah Right? Three years seems to be a bit early to start doing so, especially if the possibility exists that I could just might escape these chains in as little as 8+ months if everything falls just right. Which it won’t.
Football Droppings:
He’s Baaack!:
Is that a Ghostbusters reference? When the Giants beat the Niners in the ’90 Championship Game that’s what Carl Banks and LT were saying but it was “We’re Baaack!”. Anyhow, I’m talking about Tyrod Taylor and his signing with the Packers, his 8th team. It seems like he’s been around forever but he’s just 36 at this point. He’s done the smart thing and offered his services on an almost every-other-year basis to teams that anticipate having issues with their current backups. This is a helluva gig for a guy-let’s recall-that was a 6th rounder back in the day. And let’s give Green Bay a bit of credit here, their QB room is ‘stocked’ with Kyle McCord and Desmond Ridder.
The Saga of Anthony:
Mr. Richardson Sr. has deigned to participate in the Colts training program after asking for a trade, being given permission to talk to teams and then coming up empty. This is what happens when you have absolutely no leverage but like to play pretend games. Of course, Indy would have to go through the humiliation of casting off their supposed prize for a 7th. In other not surprising news his 5th year option wasn’t picked up-that would have put 22 million shekels in his pants, guaranteed. That said, he’ll have ‘earned’ 33 million at the end of this season.
The Saga of C.J:
Look at me dovetailing to another, less problematic quarterback! The Texans are in a pickle with respect to this guy’s future. They grabbed the option and are now wondering about the next step. That rookie year was the bomb but he’s not been the difference-maker Houston anticipated. Dok and I agree-that D is fun to watch (phrasing!) but the offense needs a catalyst under center to get them through the tight spots and their guy isn’t the one. He’s just cromulent a la Flacco. But the one thing about Joe is that he is a fantastic long ball thrower so he got a bit more respect than his overall talent deserved.
The Saga of Shedeur:
This intro is beginning to sound like a Viking Storyteller Roundtable. Despite Mel Kiper’s pathetic screechings during last year’s draft, Deion’s son has very few fans among the Browns coaching staff. How else to explain the rumors of Deshaun getting first kick at the cat (a charge that was dismissed earlier this year, I’ll have you know) as a starter in camp? Or perhaps this is a piece of conjured crap like the “Brian Thomas Jr. is getting traded 1.) as soon as the season ends!, 2) in the offseason!, 3) just before the draft!, 4) on draft night!, 5) on Day 2!, 6) on Day 3!” Media dander is what it is.
Do the things that you do.
