Notes and Comments
Fremantle is the real deal, y’all. They came from behind to beat Geelong, the only team that’s beaten them all year, and are a lock to finish first in the ladder. Anything can happen in finals, but the road to the Grand Final goes through Perth.
Adelaide continued their excellent form with a solid win over Melbourne. They are barely out of the Top Four and will overtake the Cats with a win this week in the Showdown.
GWS tripped over themselves again in losing to the Carlton Blues. Granted, Carlton has been on a tear since getting rid of their coach, but I really expected more from the Giants. Don’t look now but Carlton is only one game out of the finals places. I think they will make finals.
Hawthorn is back to their winning ways as they handled Gold Coast with ease. The Suns, like St. Kilda, keep threatening to be good but ultimately wilt at the wrong time.
Finally, I can’t believe Port Adelaide is just as bad as West Coast. They were perennial contenders as recently as last year! At least Essendon didn’t lose again. The bottom of the ladder is really bad.
Spam has expanded his lead and is now solidly in first place, 4 ahead of Yeah Right and 5 ahead of Sharky. The rest of us are desperately trying to make up ground before the season ends. Don’t forget to put the tips in!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
See you next week!
