When doing some research for this poorly thought out season preview, I went to see what I said about the Packers last year, but apparently I didn’t do that post, but 2 years ago I did and one thing that did stand out to me was this:
…how long does Rodgers want to play and want to play for GB. I’m guessing that next year will be the start of the Love experiment.
So, looks like I was a year off. I wasn’t expecting Rodgers to follow Farve’s path to the Jets. Is it too much to hope that next year he goes to the Vikings? hahahaha
A quick look at the team
QB

Jordan Love starts under centre this year. As a long(ish?) time Packer fan, this is the third opening day QB that I’ve seen, so not expecting much from him to start the season. I’m hoping they game plan for him, instead of just trying to use the Rodger’s game plan and it not doing well. Jordan is backed by something called “Sean Clifford”, who is a rookie, so it’s all or nothing here.
RB
Aaron Jones and AJ Dillion start in the backfield as a pretty good 1-2 punch. However, unlike last year, I expect them to see lots of 8 in the box (phrasing), so expect their numbers to be down year over year.
WR
As a Packer “fan”, I don’t think i know who any of these people are, but it’s Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Dontyvlon Wicks and that will be running route for nothing or down field blocking for all the running plays.
TE
Marcedes Lewis has moved on, so rookie Luke Musgrave gets the start to be an extra blocker.
OLine
David Bakhtiari anchors the line and is now the “old man” on the team at 31 years old. They’ll have to do more run blocking this year, and hopefully can give Jordo a bit of time to throw a few to rry to keep the defences honest.
Kicker
Mason Crosby finally retired, so rookie Anders Carlson got the job.
DLine
Both the edge or EDGE and interior defensive line grades out to be middle of the pack, typical GB defence
Linebackers
This is actually a top 10 ranked unit, who knew. Not me.
Secondary
Jaire Alexander leads this unit as a top 5 or so overall CB, but after him, there’s not much. So throw to the other side, or over the top. You’ll have time.
Overall it looks like the Packers are in a rebuilding kinda mode, with having got rid of a buncha old guys, and then having 12 or so rookies making the final 53. So, not expecting much from them this year, even with the 8th easiest projected schedule overall.
Week 1 @ Bears
This will be a loss to the hated Bears. Fields is gonna run all over this team.
Week 2 @ Falcons
Second game on the road, this one could go either way, but guessing a brutal turnover mid 4th gives Atlanta the win
Week 3 vs Saints
Think this will be a battle of the bad offences and that the Pack eek out a win.
Week 4 vs Lions
This is not the Millian Lions, and thus not a win.
Week 5 @ Raiders
The team parties too hard in the days before the game and mail it in. Raiders\Riders win.
Week 6 Bye
Week 7 @ Broncos
Green Bay, still confused that QB’s are allowed to run past the line of scrimmage, get blown out.
Week 8 vs Vikings
Another divisional matchup and another loss. Figure this one is close at the end until the rookies make a rookie mistake.
Week 9 vs Rams
With the fastest show on turf being a thing of the past, GB gets a win.
Week 10 @ Steelers
LaFleur gets out coached by Omar Eeps.
Week 11 vs Chargers
The stomp stomp clap you hear is the Packer playoff hopes being crushed to dust with another loss at home.
Week 12 @ Lions
The good news is that this is the early game, so the players can still have a nice Thanksgiving dinner. The bad news is that it will be after another loss.
Week 13 vs Chiefs
The Chiefs play like they should and not down to the Packers level. This is to be the SNF game, but expect it to get flexed out.
Week 14 @ Giants
This is the MNF game, again expect it to be flexed out, but somehow win on the road.
Week 15 vs Bucs
Another team rebuilding, so expect a sloppy game, hopefully in some snow and a last second field goal for the win.
Week 16 @ Panthers
An early Christmas present to the Green Bay fans with a third win in a row.
Week 17 @ Vikings
This will be an ugly loss. LaFluer will try to do some fancy shit with the game plan and it will just nawt work. This game will also be flexed out to an afternoon spot instead of the SNF place.
Week 18 vs Bears
The best way to end the season would be a tie, so going with that.
That’s like 5 wins, a tie and 11 losses, to finish last in the NFC North and hopefully another good draft for next year.
